I've smoked the occasional cigar, 2 or so every few months, for about 8 years. I always grabbed whatever was in my price range at my local B&M. About 3 years ago I moved and started at a new shop. My regulars are Ghurka Cellar Reserves and Olivia Gs. I quite cigarettes 6 months ago want to get more into cigars since I can really taste them now.

Ill throw my first question here. Are there any budget friendly samplers from online retailers, other than CigarBid? I'm not looking for specific cigars, just trying to find my preferred flavor profile. I'm hoping to stay around $30 for at least 10 cigars. Reason I'm looking for other than CigarBid I know it varies by what and price. I do have a bid on a 10 cigar variety right now.

Can't recommend a specific sampler because you are probably looking at very inexpensive cigars at the Q&P you mentioned. I think if you where willing to spend the $30 for a 5 pack sampler you'll be a lot happier with your options. AJ Fernandez makes a 20 cigar 6x60 box pressed mega sampler that's always on sale for around $70 and I though was pretty good.

Welcome from TN! I think Atlantic Cigars has some of the best quality samplers of anyone. But famous has some good ones as well. And as Greg said, they can be gotten from their auctioneer site for good deals. Unfortunately the best value smokes seem to fall in the $4 - 6 range. But there are some good ones that can be found for 2-3. Highly recommend Ramon Bueso for budget. Almost everything from AJ Fernandez is good. And crowned heads stuff is great and a good value.

Welcome from San Diego.

At $3/stick, I would check with both Famous Smoke and Cigar International - they offer some budget friendly samplers that you might find up your alley.

Also, check the "Cigar Deals Thread" - there's usually good deals on good smokes there.

This is double your price but it's also double the number of smokes. $70 for 20 Oliva Master Blend III's. I freaking love these things.

Great smoke at that price, but it won't really help you find a preferred profile.

I'd recommend trying a few from a local B&M to see what you like... then buy more of them online after you find what you like.
I'd be curious about that small batch sampler too though.

Welcome from Illinois.

Was in a similar position about a year ago. My advice is to fulfill your requirements and do the newb trade here. You'll probably get a good selection of nice cigars from one of the seasoned BOTL that might help you find something you like. Then, if you still want to get a sampler of lower cost cigars, I'll hook you up. I have quite a few to share from going nuts on the auction sites last year. Nothing wrong with them, most are decent cigars. Some I didn't personally care for, some I did, but am happy to share. Have to follow the rules of the site, though... Newb trade with a vet first.

Welcome from South MS!
Good luck finding (good) samplers at that range. I would suggest avoiding most samplers, as half of the selection are usually bunk.
Instead, maybe start venturing into 5ers. Find out what the blend of some of your favs are, and look for similar builds...

So after everyone's advice about that price point, I decided I'll pick up some 5ers on cigarbid. I figure I can smoke 1, age 1 or 2 and trade a few here. I picked up a Diesel Unholy Cocktail 5er for $13 as I had one about 3 months ago and enjoyed it.

HOLTS and CigarPage typically have the best frequency of good deals on good cigars. CB has unbelievable deals on great cigars rarely, but they are there if you watch. Most of CB stuff is meh centered on impulse buys for guys like me who have no self control ;). Once you are allowed in to trader area of this forum box splits are a great way to get good smokes at a good price cause guys aren't usually splitting boxes of shit, good gamble ya herd
