I’m farily new to CCs but I’ve smoked several and I’m convinced I don’t want much of anything else. I’m getting a little collection going and I haven’t even tried them all yet so forgive me, or don’t, I don’t care, I’m enjoying the collection process and letting them rest before blazing through them all. :D

I’d like to hear your opinions on what I don’t have and what you think I need or you think I can’t live without.

What I’ve got already,

Cohiba secretos maduro, siglo VI, Robusto, shorts, Pirámides extra.

Partagás serie E, Culebras, maduro

BBF, RASS, Montecristo 2s, punch punch, Trinidad reyes, RyJ Julietas, HdM epicure de luxe

What are must haves that I’m missing?

RyJ Churchills.....classic size, get a 10 of tubes
Upmann Connoisseur 1......the winner from Upmann, also consider the PC, Mag 50, #2.you may end up loving Upmann.
Monte 3...5 1/2 inches of delight, less pressure to produce than the #4..
Hoyo Coronations tubo,,,,,,,PC size and price, age wonderfully, consider the Epi 1 for a long term project
San Cristobal El Principe....dessert cigar, epic, and a do not miss..... favorite of mine
RASCC....recent boxes have been the best I have ever seen, rich and integrated, nice little stick
Parti Petit Coronas Especiales......should cost twice as much, flavor is intense
Por Larranaga PC.....these need a few years to really shine, worth the wait for sure.getting good after 2 years,be patient
Monte petit tubos......under the radar, consistently the best Monte I have. shop around for best $$ and dive in.
Punch Petit Coronations ......tiny flavor bombs, and with age can get to a point will astonish you. truest Punch flavor..
Hoyo Palmas.....5.5 by 40, a fave, perfect for morning coffee and a book.
R Gonzales Perlas......smooth quick smokes, low cost, there is a two box special if you look around.
Bolivar Corona Junior....classic Boli in a quick format
Diplomatico #2....no collection should be with out these, sometimes it's the only stick I want to smoke.
RyJ cazadores....great size, can be a serious good smoke.give them time.
Juan Lopez 1 and 2.....lately these have been really good, the JL 2 gets top marks from a "down under" Merchant for last year.
I would not spend my $$ on specials and limiteds. twice to three times the $ for the exact same tobacco.
These are my regular rotation, there are a few special occasion items I keep .......

Awesome list! I have just recently gotten into the CC world as well and will definitely use this list. Thanks @Nacho Daddy

@option 240 and @Ritter 6788, you could consider splits on a few boxes, like the Por Larranaga (50) and some of the higher dollar sticks like Dips and Upmann #2.
Build your collections as a team planning what to get .

;) you can't go wrong w/Upmann.........

:cat: mee too
Upmann is my personal favorite. I'm still considered a noob with CCs but I'm hooked on every single Upmann right now. haha
Palates are such strange things.. I haven't had an Upmann that I've particularly liked yet..... :/

I wouldn't obsess about trying to get every cigar mentioned and since so many different options have been recommended, I'd have to imagine this thread didn't make narrowing the choices down any easier. But, you've got a great start and you might want to look at differentiating your cigar portfolio when it comes to vitola sizing more than anything. For example, having RASS and CoRo already, you don't need to rush out and get PSD4, BRC, or Choix Supreme which are basically all the same size, you only need so many robustos to choose from, especially when you're starting out.

So with that in mind, here's my picks: I'd suggest the Party 898 and getting a classic, highly regarded lonsdale while they're still being produced (with Habanos you just never know what might show up on that discontinued list.) Do you know what country produces the best lanceros in the world? It's not Nicaragua. The Monte Especial No 2 is an relatively easy to find, affordable option that delivers big Monte flavor in it's small package. The cigar always delivers. I prefer the Especial No 1 myself, but it's htf, and they aren't coming cheap these days either. I see you like your Cohiba so feel free to interchange that pick with CCE or CoLa, which have a different profile but are excellent.

I'd also recommend adding more space by getting rid of the Partagas and Cohiba maduro. Waste of money, waste of space, waste of precious smoking time. You want a maduro? Great, then go smoke a Padron, they do that better than anyone.

While that's some good thoughts, I'm gonna have to disagree a little bit.
While branching out in sizes is definitely worthwhile, what if robustos are just a preferred size?
And Choix is a different enough flavor profile that it's worth adding to the stock. And the RC are just nice right now.
The rest of it I can go with, except Padron, I'd rather have a crowned heads, tat, RoMa, or even CAO maduro.,
But that's just me... ;)

'Just nice right now' is not a realistic statement when it comes to CCs. Which RCs are smoking nice right now? '14s? '15s? '17s? I have some '08s that are smoking tits, but I had a '16 a couple months ago that needs 2-3 years at least.

Also, stating that you'd rather have a CAO maduro over a Padron refutes just about any comment you have made in the past, or may make in the future regarding cigars lol

@ritter6788, try any and everything you can get your hands on - keep notes or whatever and continue buying what you like. Nacho gave a great list of recommendations so you can start there and then expand. Then, when you start posting about your cigar journey, remember to ignore the guys, including me, who might tell you that you are wrong because you don't like a brand that everyone else claims to. All advice should be taken with a grain of salt until you have a firm grasp on what YOU like.
