'Just nice right now' is not a realistic statement when it comes to CCs. Which RCs are smoking nice right now? '14s? '15s? '17s? I have some '08s that are smoking tits, but I had a '16 a couple months ago that needs 2-3 years at least.

Also, stating that you'd rather have a CAO maduro over a Padron refutes just about any comment you have made in the past, or may make in the future regarding cigars lol
Bahahahahaha! Did Chuck hack your acct Jon?
The. Rc' s. That. Are. Coming. In. Right. Now. Are. Really. Good. And. I've. Heard. Nothing. But. Good. About them.
It must be a string of good batches.
(the 17s are actually best I've tried, but 15's and 16s were good as well)

Fuck Padron. Sorry, they're fine, but they just don't do it for me, so many other maduros that are better to my palate. Have you ever even had a CAO? When last?

Serious question, no bullshit intended. How many recent RCs have you smoked personally?

Also - CAO Brazilia is a fantastic budget smoke for people in the maduro market, I've smoked quite a few, but better than a padron? Not a chance in hell.

While that's some good thoughts, I'm gonna have to disagree a little bit.
While branching out in sizes is definitely worthwhile, what if robustos are just a preferred size?
And Choix is a different enough flavor profile that it's worth adding to the stock. And the RC are just nice right now.
The rest of it I can go with, except Padron, I'd rather have a crowned heads, tat, RoMa, or even CAO maduro.,

But that's just me... ;)
I can tell you like robustos/hermosos no 4 as you recommended 4 of them. The OP didn't mention anything about a vitola preference though so I based my recommendation on rounding out a collection with slightly more advanced choices. The 898 is a smoker's smoke and the Especial No 2 is a flavor powerhouse that represents what good Monte can be.
Everyone has different opinions on cigars and what should be tried. For me, I know Choix wouldn't make my top 25 recommendations. BRC is a solid stick, but to me its a worse version of BBF until it starts to positively differentiate itself down the line (at least 5 years IMO.) I dont know how 17 boxes look, but I know the 16 boxes Ive had/seen have been somewhere between shit and fucking shit.
I don't smoke NCs anymore, so I don't want to get into an argument about them, but with Padron you always get what you pay for - quality and consistency. I've never had a single poorly constructed Padron and there is something to be said for that. I think the maduro products they make can take the Pepsi challenge with damn near any other maduro product on the market. Also, CAO blows.

Agreed! He knows what he's talking about.

Agreed! Truer words have not been spoken on this forum.

Agreed! Cass knows the cigar world better than most.
I think the maduro products [Padron] makes can take the Pepsi challenge with damn near any other maduro product on the market.
I have no idea what that means.

YOU ARE AN IDIOT AND OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CIGARS!

I wouldn't obsess about trying to get every cigar mentioned and since so many different options have been recommended, I'd have to imagine this thread didn't make narrowing the choices down any easier.

I'd also recommend adding more space by getting rid of the Partagas and Cohiba maduro. Waste of money, waste of space, waste of precious smoking time. You want a maduro? Great, then go smoke a Padron, they do that better than anyone.
I don't have to have them all but I like to hear what other folks must haves are. Actually did make my choice a little easier since I had some on my brain already and some of those were recommended here. I had thought about a box of Cuaba but no one said a word about them so I'm going to pass on those for now.

I haven't tried the Partagas maduro yet but the Cohiba was one of the best smokes I've had. I have full boxes of the Padron '26 and '64 maduros they are one of my favorite NCs. I'm weaning out some of the lesser NCs and adding more CCs. The Padrons aren't going anywhere in my rotation.

@ritter6788, try any and everything you can get your hands on - keep notes or whatever and continue buying what you like. Nacho gave a great list of recommendations so you can start there and then expand. Then, when you start posting about your cigar journey, remember to ignore the guys, including me, who might tell you that you are wrong because you don't like a brand that everyone else claims to. All advice should be taken with a grain of salt until you have a firm grasp on what YOU like.
Agree 100%.

Cuaba makes a solid smoke. They will give you a salty/nuttiness that you won't really find in many other smokes. Maybe in Sancho Panza a little bit.

Don't let the guys in this thread who have only smoked the mainstream CCs sway you. If you want to try Cuaba, try them.

I still very much consider myself a newbie cigar smoker. My advice would be to start a cigar notebook... personally I keep the bands and write notes on what I like about a certain cigar.
I'm definitely into Juan Lopez lately... especially if you can find some with a couple years of age.
The RA Club coronas... as mentioned earlier, are a great smoke.
I've gotta smoke these on a full stomach... but I think a Camacho Liberty is a good cigar. It's fuller-bodied. You can still find 2015's pretty easily.

Gonna have to jump on that 2x perlas deal. Then probably gonna get a box of Conn1 next time I see a good deal, as I'm finding I like HU a lot. 3 boxes HUPC and 2 HUHC in stock so far. But for some reason the No. 2 doesn't do it for me. I've got probably 10 left from an LUB Jun 2014 box and they just don't impress me like the others. I can't decide if I should keep them and age them more, or trade/sell them off to fund part of the Conn1 box.
