This is too true. I always cringe when I see Chinese characters on people, even if they are designed well and look great, because even when they know for sure what it roughly translates too prior to getting it, that "rough" translation totally changes the meaning. There are some hysterical video's on youtube with a couple Chinese guys that attempt to decipher peoples supposed character tats, what they wanted and what they actually mean.Worked in a tattoo shop for a few years. This guy would alway come in asking for free ink. So one day one of the artists, a Jewish guy, tattooed him and told him he was tattooing bravery on the back of his neck in Hebrew. Only he actually tattooed what loosely translated into "I'm a mooch. "
