Opus X travel humidor good deal? if

So I went a little crazy the other day on cigar auctioneer and bought a lot of stuff. However I am very interested in buying to save and store (hoard!!) some top quality sticks. I have been looking at the Opus X different travel humidors that are new and full of the different Opus X cigars. I can pick one up for between 180-210 ish. By the numbers it is a good deal since it has a MSRP if $260. 98233315-791B-4EFA-AD32-BB0A96A939D8.jpeg 8252A6BC-2F67-4462-936E-C217BD5FE0A6.png However just because it is cheaper doesn’t always make it a great deal. What are your thoughts on it? I have a few Opus X in my humidor to include a lancero sized opus X from 2007. I am going to store them for at least 3 years to mature / soften the blends for the best flavor profile. I have also looked at the Opus X 22 2016 but it has an MSRP of 975 and goes for 1100 on a few different site and I don’t think I am ready to commit that kind of money. But I am interested in harder to find and limited edition cigars that I can age. Thoughts or ideas?

And this is the reason I was so excited to join this group. I don’t have access to opus anywhere around me so I am not as familiar with them. There are so many people on this forum I knew I would get some great information and help! Any ideas for other cigars to collect? I want to age some full bodied smokes that are harder to find or rare.

You're paying for the Opus X name. Get a quality unbranded humidor for a fraction of the cost and use the cash you saved to fill it with some some premium sticks. For $260 you can get a DOPE humidor, for $1100 you can get a DOPE humidor plus have money left over for several hundred sticks.

Sorry I have no care for the humidor. I have 3 travel 3 desktop and a large whynter wineador. That is just how it is packaged in the ‘travel’ humidor. I care only for the cigars.

Have you tried any of the above smokes? I would recommend against paying $20+ for any sticks you've never tried, especially considering quality Cubans can be obtained for far less if you know where to look.

If you are only buying it for the sticks, I can say without a doubt that is a ripoff.

I have several Cubans I picked up while in Europe in 2016. I have had access to them for quite a while so to me I would rather have a 1964 padron piramide. I am saving what I have left for a while. But to answer Your question no sir I have not. I have always been a Fuente fan though since I tried my first stick. I have the yearly anejo’s aging in the bottom of a humidor because I know they get good with age. I have read a lot of reviews about them and they seem to age very well and it mellows out some of their notorious spice. So that was my thoughts on buying them.

Plenty of places to score Opus X cigars....average cost is $15....plus or minus a few bucks either way. OVTC is one place....I buy from them quite a bit....another is Tampa Sweetheart. Call ahead to see if they are stocked.

Heard mixed reviews on the Padron Piramides. Can't tell you personally on those as I haven't had one yet, but I would use the money toward gathering up some family reserves in different years.

I have had all of the family reserves. My local B&M and second generation cigar shop owner and knew Mr. Padron and has several cigars he was given by Mr. Padron personally. He carries that full line so I have access to all of them and have severa in my locker at the local B&M. The 64 piramide to me is just one of my favorites. The smoke is creamy and I feel like you could cut it with a knife. It isn’t spicy and to me it is pretty mellow. Medium body at the most but a lot of great flavors with out going overboard. The 26 and family reserves are more full bodied and don’t have that same creamy goodness I enjoy in the 64 series. It is a must try if you ask me.
