Hi all,

I stumbled on a jc pendergast cabinet on Craigslist a few months ago. I did a bit of research, but there wasn't much out there besides stories of the business going out of sale or people like me finding a humidor and buying it. I got it for an ok price considering it is a single door and it was missing the original humidification system.

It still has the hygrometer switch that will trigger the fan, which was connected to a fish tank with a fabricated top that has an inlet and outlet. It works.... Not pretty, but it works. Been able to get it to hold steady at 64-65%.

Does anyone that is familiar with these type of cabinets, have a better humidification idea?

Next anyone have any diy system to store loose sticks on bare shelves? Or should I just get trays. I was thinking go taking cedar planks and fabricating divider and bins.. Anyone have ideas. FYI attaching G current setup. It is a mess... I know.

Think part of your problem is big storage area, not too many sticks. 65% is a nice number, should be interesting to see if it hold at 65% when fuller.

True. I only have a few hundred in there. But I don't have an issue balancing the humidity when I need to. I just want a better storage method, including bins or diy solutions.

For humidification, you could probably adapt a Cigar Oasis or similar to work for you. If it really is already holding RH well, just Boveda, beads, or KL will probably work fine, especially if you have fans to circulate the cabinet.
For DIY storage, ask a local B&M if they can sell/give some empty boxes. You can build your own, but be sure to use Spanish Cedar, not Red Cedar. Or you can just buy trays.
BTW, good find. Good luck with it.
