Hello BOTLs and SOTLs. I'm seeking some advice on how to circulate humidity in my new humidor that I have coming in the mail. The humidor I have is a Vinotemp Cigar Mate 450 humidor (pictured). For humidity control I am going to use HCM beads (I have HF beads in my Coolidor now but I'm not terribly impressed with those as I feel they take away some of the nice wood smell in humidors/Coolidors) and Boveda 65%RH packs (not sure how many but a good bit.

Either way what I'm trying to figure out is a good way to circulate the air around inside the humidor. Does anyone have any recommendations on a larger battery powered fan that I can use for the bottom section of the humidor and a couple smaller, cordless/battery powered fans for the top section. Price is not really a huge concern for me. I mean I don't necessarily need the Rolls Royce of humidor fans if the Chevy version will do the same thing just as well, but if said Rolls Royce version is that much better then by all means that's the one Im going to get. Thank you all for reading. Any advice is gear my appreciated.

Looks nice. I use computer case fans. Just passed the wire in through the drain in my wineadore. You probably won't have a drain, but 6 or 12 dc wires are pretty thin. A very small hole drilled in the bottom would let you never worry about batteries. Just a thought.

I am considering that as that if I don't find other options. That is what I do in my Coolidor right now running the wires through the drain plug and it definatly will work I just kinds want to find a neater and tiddier option and avoid drilling holes If I don't need to. I may end up doing that in the long run, but hopefully find a decent cordless option. Thank for the info.

This is a silly question but in a wineador, doesn't the drain make the whole thing not airtight making humidity hard to control? Shouldn't you cover the drain or plug it? thermoelectric wineador shouldn't sweat right?

They just don't last long enough to be a reasonable solution for the size of the humidor and they take up more room then a slot fan Velcro-ed to the back of the humidor. A programmable timer is also a big help since you do not need to run the fan constantly.

Anything with a cooling plate will sweat if it runs long enough. I plug the drain and put one of those evaporative cooling rags in the bottom to soak up the moisture. When wet it gets replaced with a dry rag and moved to a higher shelf to recirculate the moisture. But I live in a hell hole so my house stays a good bet warmer then most.

Oh, they sweat. Water will condense on them as soon as the proper conditions are met, just like anything else. A little dab of silicone around the wires seals the drain, and a little KL placed in the back/bottom absorbs & releases any condensation that would otherwise pool up.

@Boudie basically answered that question very well above, but yeah a thermoelectric should still generate condensation, but far less then a wino with a compressor I believe. Like said above any cooling cycle/system (Brayton Cycle... Spelled wrong I'm sure ) (atleast at the temperatures we are talking about) will condense water vapor in the air into liquid.

I have one of those OG glade fans that runs on a D battery for my cooler. So that xicar ^ above looks to be a good idea for op's set up.

Anyways as far as cordless fans are concerned this is all I could really find and idk if it's worth the price tag on it. Plus it may be a little small for the bottom, but too bulky for the top section. Thoughts?

EDIT forgot the link

Looks like it may be more than sufficient. Perfect really

Probably for the whole thing if there's any air transference between the top and bottom.

Yeah unfortunatly when the humidor came the back corner was damaged really badly so they are sending a replacement but from. Looking at it there is air transfer from the bottom to the top. I'm. Thinking maybe one possibly two of those Xikar humi fans in the bottom and maybe one or two of those glade (or whatever er the fans are that people are using) mounted somewhere on the top to the sides somewhere that may be overkill I guess I'll start with just one in the bottom and see how air travels through I suppose would be the best corse of action.

I did 2 computer fans in my wineador. Works great. Have them on a timer to cycle 15 min ever hour. One thing I learned is when it was overly full the air stagnated and the fans didn’t work as well.
