You're not missing a whole lot though..... Even though I love watching and playing, my generation has absolutely ruined the sport of bowling.

Golf is big, never got getting dressed in colors you would normally not wear, looking like a neon sign, chasing a white pellet you hit with a stick, and paying big bucks to do it ..........weird.:punch:
weird is definitely how i've been described so I can't disagree :)

Bowling would be a lot more fun to watch if they poured Crisco on the lane approaches and made people bowl bare footed';

When I was growing up we had a public pitch & put in our City, it was fun. You played with a #9 Iorn, and Putter. No dress code, just fun. Like a quarter to play 9 holes, thirty-five cent to play 18.

Today Golf is big business, the Phoenix Open is one of the largest people drawers in the Vally of the Sun, people plan vacation around Golf. Golf is big business.

it is huge business but it doesn't have to be expensive. i learned on a very similar pitch and putt here (although it was about 7 dollars to play nine. didn't need more than a putter and a wedge or so.

We have a few executive courses around - 9 holes - don't necessarily need a driver, just some irons and a putter. about 12 bucks to play 9. clubs can be cheap if you dont need latest and greatest. especially used on craigslist.

Well because of my business, I was forced to attend many major Golf Events. It was about money, not love of Golf. In the old days there was this guy still playing. Arnold Palmer, when he showed up at a SR. PGA Event attendance increased. Annie Army follow him like no other Pro - Golfer was followed.

It was funny to watch form far away it looking like a big pack of hungry wolves follow a wounded animal. It was only Palmers Army following Arnie.
