When will you arrive?
How long are you staying?
Will you have a car?

I know DC pretty well and maybe we could meet up for a smoke.

There is alot to do around DC as well as in the city. Plenty of outdoor stuff like visiting the National Zoo, going to Great Falls, taking a hike along the Billy Goat Trail, getting a row boat at Fletcher's Boat House and going fishing, you can catch a basketball or hockey game at MCI center, maybe a concert, there is TONS of stuff to do.

Just one day huh....So you'll be driving up on Sunday and leaving Monday?

Not much time to do anything, but I'd visit the museums, they're free and they really are some of the best you'll find anywhere.

There's the Air and Space museum, which has an awesome IMAX theatre, American History Museum, Natural History, Native American and the National Gallery of Art.

Also, there is the Spy Museum, but that costs like $20.

The outlet is for the old lady... geez if she get's to buy something I can go to a cigar store... when is your mom's birthday? My is the 19th, that is why I am going to DC, that and to get a free dinner from my bud Steve from TWS (The Wine Specialist), my man behind the last bombs!

The spy museum does sound intersting... only for a couple days thjis time, but we have friends who go there almost every weekend in spring and summer so will definately be going back.

Oh, and seriously if there is something you need in the way of wine, liquor etc that you can't find or like here in VA jacked up beyond normal (for other states I have been in) prices, let me know... this guy has flown the world to retrieve stuff and he does monthly sorties for several regular customers and if he can get it while he is there, he will do it for me... AND he gives me decent discounts too...

For and example, bombed my better half with the following this week:

Corzo Añejo Tequila $65.
Yellow gold color. Warm caramel, potpourri, and golden raisin aromas. A round supple, entry leads to a delicately sweet, oily medium-to full-bodied palate with rich flavors of honeyed toast, brown spice, and dates. Finishes with a long sweet fade of baked fruits, spice, and toffee. Yummy.

International Review of Spirits Award: Gold Medal

RATED: 93 points (Exceptional)
ALCOHOL BY VOLUME: 40%
CATEGORY: Tequila Anejo
TASTING LOCATION: Our Chicago Tasting Room
TASTING DATE: Aug-02-2006
SPIRITS ID: 178730

Let's just say.. I did not pay retail!

Natural history is awesome, as is the American history, Air & Space is always a must for me (haven't been to the hangar by Dulles yet), the War memorials on the mall are extremely moving, and the Holocaust museum was quite powerful. Closest outlet mall that I know of would be in Leesburg (North on 15 off of I-66). I think there are some toward Fredricksburg but that's kind of in the wrong direction. I would definitely find a hotel that was close to the Metro since it is very easy to use and the price of hotel rooms in DC is insane.

Don't forget Shelly's.

http://www.shellysdc.com/

JR's has a little mini shop (at least compared to Statesville) at 1730 L St. NW.

Have a good birthday bro.
Thanks!

Yes that was the one I plan to go to as it is right around the corner from my bud's store!

Now it looks like we will be going for Sat. Sun. and Mon. which gives us more time to look things over...

When the time draws nearer, shoot me a PM and I'll meet up with you at Shelly's for a smoke, or 2, or maybe 3

And if your bud can source me one or two bottles of 1997 Caymus below retail, do bring those along :stretchgr

What's the best price you can get it for? Since it looks like the best retail out there I can find is $95.
