Tiger has the same effect nowadays. He played in a tournament last week that he's never played in. The tournament had its strongest field (ie biggest names) ever. It also shattered attendance records for the tournament (by 30 or 40%). The other tournaments he's played in this year have all seen boosted attendance. Not to mention that TV ratings for golf this past Sunday were very high! A business it is.
