I received a spam type email from this person that is very strange. When someone says they don't want to come off as creepy, it is creepy and off putting. Plus no link to an actual website. Anyone else get this?

"Hey there!

My name is Scott. You probably don’t know me, and I don’t want to come across as creepy, but hang in there with me for a moment, and I will explain the reason for my email.

I own Daily Cigar Deals, which aggregates the best cigar deals from 50 different retailers, so cigar lovers can find the best deal to save money on their cigar purchases.

I recently ran a contest online, and asked current fans to recommend people they know who loves cigars, and would benefit from Daily Cigar Deals.

That’s how I got your email :)

Before I did anything, I wanted to personally email you and make sure you smoked cigars, and if you were interested in Daily Cigar Deals.

The last thing I want is to not be welcome in your inbox. If you like cigars, and want to save money, then I can help.

So…

If this sounds like something that won't benefit you, you can Click HERE and you won't receive another email from me.

The last thing I want is to not to be welcome in your inbox. If that is the case, I’m sorry, and you won’t hear from me again.

Any questions, reply to this email and I will get back to you ASAP.

Keep Er’ Lit,
Scott (Shooter)"

"Hey there! Hi! How are you doing random person?

My name is Scott. You probably don’t know me, and I don’t want to come across as creepy, but hang in there with me for a moment, and I will explain the reason for my email. Too late Scott. My anus just puckered a little upon reading that

That's nice I guess, but was really hoping for 53. You should feel bad for wasting my time, Scott. I thought we were freinds.

I recently ran a contest online, and asked current fans to recommend people they know who loves cigars, and would benefit from Daily Cigar Deals. I don't remember voting Scott. What does this have to do with me?

That’s how I got your email :) <Channels Gunny>:Who said me? Who the fuck said me? Who's the slimy little communist shit twinkle-toed cocksucker, who just signed his own death warrant? @Glassman! Was it you?

Before I did anything, I wanted to personally email you and make sure you smoked cigars, and if you were interested in Daily Cigar Deals. You're warning me in a "not" creepy pre sales-pitch that a separate actual sales-pitch is inbound. This works for you? Is this ever received well by anyone?

The last thing I want is to not be welcome in your inbox. If you like cigars, and want to save money, then I can help. "Welcome in my inbox?" Oh, so it's that kind of e-mail Well, that gets sorted to a whole different folder...

So…

If this sounds like something that won't benefit you, you can Click HERE and you won't receive another email from me. Ahh, here's the link you want me to click. GFY Scott

The last thing I want is to not to be welcome in your inbox. If that is the case, I’m sorry, and you won’t hear from me again. There you go again, Damn! Wording, Scott, wording! Proofread, you syphilitic shitweasel

Any questions, Are the boxes made from real Spanish Cedar?

reply to this email and I will get back to you ASAP. Stay away from my inbox Scott.

Keep Er’ Lit,
Scott (Shooter)" "Shooter"? Now you're just messing with me

He's "legit". Got your address from someone who has yours trying to earn more entries for a contest he is running.

He exists on the r/cigars subreddit as /u/ShooterMa

He just aggregates daily deals and passes them along - they look like this:

Famous has a Best of RoMa Craft Sampler 10 cigars for $75.99, that's 9% Off MSRP

CigarPage has Perdomo Champagne 10-Packs for 55% Off MSRP that's like $3.50 a stick

Again at Famous, a sweet Tatuaje Sampler on Sale 27% Off, 10 Cigars for $69.99

CigarPage has Steve Saka's Umbagog on Sale in different vitolas

Undercrown Coronets Maduro Cigarillos are on Sale at Gotham for over 24% Off!

I have owned, operated, and administrated a handful of websites in the past, and that sure looks like spam to me.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is spam and was simply wondering if anyone else here got it as well. It was sent to an email address of mine that is strictly used for lapyap, so either someone on this BB gave my email address to this guy or he bought it from a retailer. Either way, not cool at all. I have never been on reddit.

Oops I should've been clear - this is definitely spam. Comes from : https://www.dailycigardeals.com/

I wasn't implying you had been on reddit - just pointing out where I've seen his site / deals from. Like I said - its most likely someone tossed your address in there to earn contest entries.

Scott's a real person. Was/is fairly involved over at Cigar Federation. I've hung out with him and had dinner with him in Vegas during IPCPR.
He did run a contest when he first launched a site and someone definitely did submit your email address or you wouldn't have been on the list he sent to.
He's trying to confirm if you want to receive further emails.
Consider him being active on CigFed and how the Ezra Zion/Cigar Federation Tobacos marketing is, you probably get a similar vibe to the method he's taking.
Not trying to promote his site, just trying to add additional info to the thread.

I get these emails. They haven't been great quality, and I'll probably unsubscribe soon, but they don't seem scammy. I also get emails from bestcigardeals.com, and I'd actually recommend those.

I know Scott too, he is basically working on aggregating cigar deals and providing an email that summarizes it.

Le'ts also be clear - all of his links are affiliate links - he is making money off of your clicks / purchases. So the more emails he has - the better he does. Good guy or not - it is a fairly common scheme.
