The only thing I wish it had was an on/off switch. It's just on 24/7 unless I UNPLUG it. In a studio, that likely wouldn't be an issue, but it certainly is at my home!

Why?

I'm editing DVCAM, not HD, using Final Cut Studio 5. I've got 2GHz G5 with 2GB RAM and over a Terabyte of live drive space. Believe me, it's plenty powerful enough...it doesn't so much as hiccup during normal work. The only "slow" thing is rendering, but I do that overnight while I'm asleep, so speed is irrelevant as long as it's finished by the morning.

Power strip?

Powerstip won't work, since it is powered over either the AC plug *OR* over the FireWire cable. If you unplug the AC, but the FireWire cable is still plugged in, it still operates! LOL

Ahhh - that's convenient and inconvenient at the same time. A cool feature, though. Does it drain the shit out of your laptop battery? Sorry for the threadjack.
