I have amassed enough credit on Amazon gift cards to purchase a cooler for my boxes. I currently have them in a large tupperadore but would like to have most of my collection in temperature controlled environment.
I have been eyeballing the new air AW-281E $211 like new on Amazon $248 new. I am not really worried about shelving as the wine racks will support the boxes. I like that I can buy shelves relatively cheap.
Economy Series - Custom Wineador? Creations

I don't want to overspend and was curious if anyone has any experience with the cheaper models available. Others, like....

https://www.amazon.com/Koldfront-TWR...A5HK61X9HW3Z8G

https://www.amazon.com/Kalamera-Cool...ic+wine+cooler

I have some other things id like to get along with it, so the more I save on the cooler the more other accessories I can get. Trays, pen lighters, etc.
Looking at 28+ bottle capacity, upper temp. range of 66 or greater.
Does the above model have a good inner space for boxes?

Are you needing to purchase this now? I believe that I paid less than $170 around Christmas for the AW-281E on Amazon. Watch for sales if you are not in a rush.

Man that is a great price. Since it is gift card credit and not coming out of pocket, I would like to get it before school starts in a couple weeks, but man for that price I might have to wait. Not really sure if there is enough difference between the New Air and the other cheaper models.

I can only speak on the NewAirs - I have 2, the CC-100 and AW-281E(y). I can't comment on their reliability because neither have been plugged in yet.
Good luck on your search and purchase!

I have the kalamera 28 with the smoked glass front. It works great. Max temp is 66, and would usually hang steady around 64-65 when set to 66. I recently had to go unplugged though, so right now it's just a nice upright humidor. It started accumulating a lot of condensation on the walls inside, and that is with ambient temps around 75 with the cooler set to 66. Also RH near the fan inside would spike up to around 75% when the cooling unit was running, using Boveda 65% as my humidification. I freeze all my sticks anyway, so I'm not worried about the temps that much. I went with an all drawer set up, so I can't speak to how many boxes it would fit. I have around 200 sticks in there right now, and that takes up 3 full drawers, with a handful of sticks in a 4th.

The Kalamera was $150 on amazon when I bought it. It is sexier than the newairs IMO, with the smoked glass front, and the touch controls. Beware, if you are planning to order shelves or drawers from Forrest at wineadors.com. I ordered a 6 drawer set from him, and it didn't ship until nearly 5 months later. After 2 months I started to inquire on the status. I was repeatedly told that they would ship next week, and was told tomorrow a couple of times as well, and it never happened. After getting dicked around for a couple of months, I threatened to report it to lapyap, they shipped shortly after that. Estimated 5 weeks was an actual 19 weeks.

Great information. How long have you had the Kalamera? Do you usually have higher ambient RH in your area?

I've had the Kalamera since early August 2017. I put it through a long deodorization process while I waited for my drawers. I had it plugged in and running since January, all the way until about 3 weeks ago. I had no issues with it during that time, it cooled as expected. I got tired of battling the fluctuating RH, and then the last straw was when I saw condensation forming on the interior. I decided to pull the plug. I live just north of Houston, so yeah, humidity is high. It can get upwards of 90% outside during the summer months. The cooler is inside in the air conditioning though, and it never gets higher than 40% inside. Average room temp around 75-76 degrees. I've decided I'm happy enough with that temp.

I notice with my CC-300 that if I try to cool it down below 64 or so while it is around 72 in the house I will begin to get a little condensation but it increases greatly below that set temp.....during the summer. I have no problem at all when it is not so hot and humid.

I too would hold off if you can. I got one around Thanksgiving or Xmas ( Don't remember), but the price was excellent for the AW-281. I was in the one hundreds. The other 2 smaller ones I got a good price. Well, I got fucked on the far right one, but the left one was a good price off Amazon.

The unit looks nice. It is smaller inside than I thought. Wiped out with orange cleaner, then with water. Tested it’s cooling ability with it empty. It worked sufficiently. Seasoning some trays in it now. Hopefully load up next week. Gonna try 320g bovedas at 65% to save from having to use space for a tray of KL. May use some bags of KL to supplement. A couple bovedas worked well in the tupperdore so I thought I try it and see. Most is going to be boxes I think. I am going to modify some extra cedar shelves in the morning. They almost fit from my CC-300
