Hi all new member from NYC: Help with my bitter cigars?!

Just curious what you used for a dry box.

I generally keep a couple of dozen cigars I intend to smoke in traveldores with 62% Bovedas. Solves a couple of problems, I'm not constantly opening my large tupperdores and cigar cooler for a daily smoke and a couple of weeks at 62% seems to have solved my burn issues.

I think drastic changes in humidity can cause cracking in the wrapper.

I used a totally empty cigar box. Although it seems to have worked this time, good to know about the cracking wrappers. I’ll keep that in mind as I move forward.

Love the idea of a gradual decrease in RH. I may just set up my on deck sticks like you do.

From my experience, the farther I get above 65% RH, the more I see an increase in burn issues and bitterness. Dry boxing and lower RH Bovedas are the perfect remedy as others have stated above.

I’m seeing from so many here that 65%rh is a good target.

I’ve got to admit, at first I saw my issue as a hassle. Now I’m starting to enjoy the troubleshooting and amount of care and attention it takes to do this right. It’s like a very slow game.

I am surprised no one mentioned "The Sickness" which is when cigars at a certain age off-gas, and kinda make everything in the humidor taste a little funky.
