New here, so I figured an introduction was in order... I've smoked cigars for years, mostly on annual flyfishing or hunting trips. Can't say I smoked very many great ones on those trips, but given the good company, fine meals, and good bourbon, it didn't matter that much.
Over the past 6 months, I've decided to fine-tune my taste in cigars. I spent the summer sampling weekly to narrow the field, leading up to a 2 week trip to Canada waterfowling. After stocking up, I smoked daily in Canada, sipping a good bourbon, and feel like I found a few I really enjoy.
While I don't have a great palate, nor have I tried many of the more obscure sticks, I found a number I like. CAO Brasilia, Flathead660, Colombia were good. Enjoyed some DE Undercrown Shade and Sun, Galera (can't recall which), and MF The Judge. The MF is probably my favorite, prefer the 5x60. Currently expanding my MF exposure...
For those familiar with KC, I live on the NW side- on acreage between Parkville and Platte City. I normally shop Outlaw North and Weston Tobacco Co. Both have a good selection, but Outlaw is much more convenient. Weston is a really cool location, the town being the old hub of the western Mo tobacco industry. Weston Tobacco Co is located in the old Burley House, which I believe was the old tobacco auction house. Really cool area...
In terms of what I do... After MS in Biology, went to work in the Landscape industry. 7 years retail, then 10 or so as Landscape Designer/Sales for a Landscape company. Walked away from it when my youngest was born- all the hours worked made me miss a lot with the first 2 kids. Now a Stay-at-Home Dad, fishing instructor, adventure guide, tball coach and full time hero to my 5 year old son. Living the dream...
