Name is Jon and I am from the east side of South Dakota. Been smoking cigars on and off for the last 20 years, mostly gifts from my father or friends, and the occasional purchase from a brick and mortar. After going to Costa Rica and a day trip into Nicaragua in February, the bug has hit me hard. We only got to go to Granada Nicaragua not Esteli, but I was able to tour Dona Elba Cigars and meet Jennifer the owner. I left with some of their cigars and I loved each of them.
Fast forward to today, I have been fortunate to have a buddy gift me some outstanding sticks which made me realize that my new local shop, has some decent cigars it really doesn't have the variety that I was looking for. That combined with some issues with over humidification in the shop, I decided to build a 60 quart coolidor, to allow better temperature and humidity control than the old cheap table top humidor my dad gave me. So now in the process of filling the coolidor and trying out new cigars. Decided to start buying samplers and 5 packs over the winter with the goal to fill it up before spring with a wide variety of quality cigars.
My only other hobby is shooting pistols competitively and there is nothing better than sitting down with a good shooting buddy and enjoying a cigar and stiff drink after a match. No kids to get in the way of my budget and my wife is completely on board as she enjoys sitting by the fire in the backyard and I am more apt to do it if I can have a cigar.
I prefer medium-full to full profile cigars, preferably with some strong pepper if I am sitting and relaxing. But not opposed to something lighter if shooting, or out hiking with my wife. I joined this forum on the recommendation of my friend, and am looking forward to learning as much as possible and discovering new cigars to enjoy.
