I thought about linking him to the dog rocket thread, but that might be too much too soon...Yes.
Anything you get from Jeremy.
Especially anything he says was "protected" in cello.

As I recall, the Edge and Decade are both decent IMO. He makes a lot of stuff, chances are at least some of it you'd like. Look for deals, though. RP can usually be had pretty cheap.Wow I thought rocky patel was like one of the top 5 brands, I will say when I see people talk about they it’s normally one of those lines
don't scare him away just yet !I thought about linking him to the dog rocket thread, but that might be too much too soon...
Like Jeremey says, there are exceptions. He mentioned AJ Fernandez in an earlier post, and he seems to be the exception to this rule. He was slapped his name on a few of the old (domestic version of) Cuban brands that have been real winners, at very friendly price points. The best of the bunch, IMO, is the H Upmann by AJ Fernandez. Another really good one is the Hoyo La Amistad by AJ Fernandez, followed closely by the Silver version of the same cigar. He also did a couple versions of Montecristo that were pretty good, but also pretty expensive. The Romeo y Julieta by AJ Fernandez was pretty good (was very good for the price I was getting them for a couple years ago). He's also done a Punch Diablo (haven't tried), Gispert Intenso (haven't tried), and Ramon Allones by AJ Fernandez. I think that's all of them? Probably going to announce the Cohiba by AJ Fernandez any day now lol. Most of the big company brands aren't too great for the money compared to what else is out there currently. Especially those with Cuban names. Punch, partagas, RyJ, etc. (granted there are several exceptions among those, but as a general rule of thumb.)
Most of the new ones come out at the annual industry show, ipcpr.how do you guys find out when new cigars come out and how often do they come out?
Me too!to me, it's the best one. I prefer the robusto size.
I usually find out here, just watching the threads. Several people on the board are involved in the industry, and quite a few more are serious enough about cigars that they follow the news pretty closely.how do you guys find out when new cigars come out and how often do they come out?
I've been looking around for good samplers for you to try, but most are primarily junk, or overpriced. So many options online
Wait. He needs a sampler?I've been looking around for good samplers for you to try, but most are primarily junk, or overpriced.
This is a great deal on a great sampler. Spend over 50 (including something without MSRP limits and you can use the botlorg code for a bigger discount.

May get your best prices on these at the cigarauctioneer.com side of famous. Just be really careful on auction sites, you can really get yourself into trouble and end up with a lot of regrets.
IMO there really isn't a shortcut to finding what you like. Be open to smoking a variety of cigars and realize your palette will change, so don't go out and buy a bunch of cigars you won't smoke a year or two down the road.
Check out the "what cha smokin" thread and the "what's your top 5 cigars" thread. Learn to smoke slowly, how to retrohale and see what you like and don't like.
Great advice from these fellas here. Take it to heart.two things will make your journey so much better....
NEVER Judge a brand by ONE Cigar.
and this is the big one :
If the cigar is too moist it will not smoke properly or taste good.
MOST vendors keep stock too moist, and anything in cello will take weeks to dry down in a standard humidor.
I hear people blasting this stick or that one,and it could be they do not know the basic rules to enjoy a cigar.
Now you will ask, what % is optimal ?
Good question, I prefer 65 % as a baseline.
Some prefer 67%.
63% for CCs.
I think most feel that 70 % is too moist, and you CAN grow a lovely crop of mold around 70% humidity at a warm temp.
So now you have a basis to learn, and as was said, you have the whole cigar world in front of you.
Let me also add that there is seldom any relationship between flavor and cost,so do not fling $$$ at a vendor for expensive cigars yet.
Anyone can find an excellent cigar for 8 to 10 bucks, unless you live in one of the high tax states.
Padron,Fuente,Pepin Garcia,Perdomo ,Carillo, all offer quality at a good price point.
wait on buying boxes for 6 to 8 months. Your Palate will change and you cannot even get close to trying all the major players.
Then there are Cubans...........
He needs a small Tupper or herfidor right now. He has no storage yet.Wait. He needs a sampler?

You know what they say about buying things in this seasonWell that makes it slightly more difficult, but not a show stopper.
@the camaro show , are you in a position to pick up a tuperdore, and a few boveda packs?
If so, I imagine a sampler could find it's way to you.
