it does not make sense to me that from here to there is more expensive then flights that are connecting here to go there if that makes sense...
Dude just buy one of the flights that connects in Atlanta and get on there!

With carry on only I can't see an issue Todd. They oversell flights all the time and expect no shows. Might have some issues with security getting on the flight, but I doubt it.

Clay, it's your call but I think waiting is a bad move. I've already seen what happened waiting less than a month. Farecast is also good for just checking flight costs. And they link you directly to the Carrier's web site. There's a fare on there right now for $277 with decent arrival and departure times.

Good luck either way, I hope to see you there.

My flight's booked, can't wait!

I was thinking about this after posting that question.

I'm not sure the agent at the check in counter could issue a ticket for a departing flight for which you were not even supposed to have arrived for yet.

Also, you have to have a boarding pass to get through security and to the gate.

Can you print boarding passes at home for your connecting flights though?

I couldn't for our flight on Contintental to Jacksonville, through Houston.

I'd be willing to bet that missing your initial flight and just grabbing the connection is not possible.

I could be wrong, but I thought you printed all the your flights' boarding passes at once, but I guess I'll find out in June.

Not with Continental I guess. :dunno:

I do know that when you skip a connection your return is now cancelled...first hand experience. Rach and I were flying to my folks for Christmas and the flight to Flint through Detroit was cheaper then just having Detroit be our final destination. Since there was a three hour lay over in Detroit, which is 45 minutes from my folks house, we had them come down and get us and we all went out to dinner. Then we drove to the Flint airport and picked up our luggage.

When we tried to check in for our return flight home, in Flint, we were told we had been bumped because we failed to make our connection in Detroit on the way there.

At the least the return leg is going to be screwed up and most likely the connection that one would be trying to make is likely going to get cancelled when you don't board the original flight.

I guess from the airlines standpoint that makes sense to bump someone. Still sucks though.

Oh definitely about security and then the fact that to them you didn't make it to your destination.

Ok guys. I think I'm gonna make it. Two BOTL herfs for me this year. I'll be coming if I can make it logistically by driving. No flying in the budget this year!

Nice to be back in the swing...
