I haven't had the heart to follow the the trial as I knew he had managed to avoid this outcome the first time around due to the whole confession issue. I was honestly surprised when I heard the verdict, I was fully expecting them to manage to get this piece of shit off.
As to the coloring, I believe that was there attempt at an insanity defense, either during the trial or for now during the sentencing phase. Let the jurors listen to the damn confession for the sentencing phase I say. He's already been found guilty, let them have access to ALL the info and see if they don't just huddle in a little conference right there in the box for 30 seconds rather than go into the deliberation room.
