The audit blames agent error and shoddy record-keeping for the bulk of the problems and did not find any indication of criminal misconduct.

Still, "we believe the improper or illegal uses we found involve serious misuses of national security letter authorities," the audit concludes.



That reads differently to me.

Whatever, I have nothing to hide, I'm not concerned about what they do. I think that if someone has something to hide, then maybe they should be checked out.

I think it makes no sense to tie the hands of our service groups.

Maybe it's the Conspiratorist in me, but I couldn't help but wonder if this has any ties at all to the recent rash of "correspondences" regarding unsanctioned purchases....

Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.



That 'bout sums it up for me. The "Patriot Act" is not how patriot's act.
