Alternate title of this thread: "Harrowing experience comes to an end"

Many of you don't know what's been happening in my life since the end of January.

I thought that the closing of the company that I worked for was bad, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. The company that purchased what was left of the company I was working for took away all time in service, took away on call pay, placed expectations of more hours with less to show for it. Their business practices left a lot to be desired, their staffing model left a lot to be desired and just overall, it was not a good working environment. During this last 2 months, I have very quietly been seeking alternate employment while maintaining the guise of the "dutiful son". This has worked out, I have been offered a position making more money, at an up and coming company that treats its employees like professionals. I have not put in my notice as of yet, I plan to do that on Friday, but this has been one of those experiences that I am happy to be putting behind me and am looking forward to working for a company that understands what is important. Now if I could just get rid of this damn cough that I've had for the last 2 months I'd go have a victory cigar.
