I must be a little older than you. For most of my friends and I, it was Sept. 18, 1970, the day Hendrix died. We were sophomores in h.s. and it was such an impact that one of the brothers (...I went to a Catholic boys-only school...) brought in his portable record player and played Hendrix albums throughout the entire period.

A few of us had just seen him in concert 6 weeks earlier so it was doubly shocking for us.

So awesome that you got to see him live, just too cool.

I was a little young to be into the music then, but I do remember my Dad telling me about both Jimi and Janis' deaths. Funny my Mom didn't tell me about Jim Morrison, she was a huge Doors fan.

I still have the handbill for the concert. One of my most prized possessions from my youth.
