Not so much gardening as a warning...if you're thinking of planting a "small area" of American Beautyberry so the wildlife will have something to eat...don't. They will take over the entire yard and come back year after year...I can only imagine neighbors on all sides of us now have it in their yards too... 
I now own a jungle
With all the heat we have had the plants are going through 20 gallons of water a day. I cut the feed back to every third day. Even with 3 fans going I'm still 100+ degrees in the afternoon. Hope I can slow the bug damage long enough to get a harvest.

@Texican I think for the 1st time in my life I slept through 8 inches of rain in 3 hours. Lots of flooding in the streets and some unpassable rds but we did fine.
Eating a bunch of cucs, the yellow squash was enjoyed by the rabbits
With the heat and rain the other green thing I have been able to grow is the pool. Finally got it to where it's swimmable
I think I'm into over $200 in chemicals this month, Every time it rained it knocked the pollen out of the trees and into the pool, finally got the yellow algae knocked out but with the storm I hope I don't have to start over. More water tests tomorrow.

Glad to hear it didn't hit yall too horribly bad. It's that time of year. Ugh yeah our pool has been green as hell...I think we are starting to win the battle after numerous rounds of chemicals...

Wow, time flies! I stumbled upon this old forum post and thought it would be great to see what everyone has been up to in their gardens. So, I recently came across a website called succulentexperience.com that has some helpful information on various plants and gardening techniques. I noticed they had a section on why calla lilies might turn yellow, which I thought you might find interesting cause I faced that issue last week.
