Another gift from one of my wife's clients. They spoil us rotten sometimes. Of course I always have to find out what it costs.:eek::eek::eek:
It's really damn good, but I don't know if it's that good.

That deep black color got my attention and went to their website...weird mix of vineyards. Two things turned me off: a Tempranillo from the Russian River Valley at 40 bucks can't be twice as better that a 20 bucks from Rioja...and the "all Mayo Family wines are vegan" statement...as opposite to what...carnivore wines?
To each its own I guess...:unsure:

Now, Matt is the winemaking knowledge bank here...BUT I bet I know what vegan wines mean! I *think* it means that they don't use that stuff to clarify the wines that contains fish bladder or shellfish shells or whatever in it. Did I get that one right, @highsierrasmokin' ?

The Russian River Valley/Dry Creek Valley is where I grew up. Bad ass vino comes out of there! Rioja??? I've never heard of it.

BTW....Mayo vino is also Free Range certified which drives up the price considerably. No cages or confined quarters for those grapes.

Tempranillo is a variety of grapes mostly grown in Rioja (North of Madrid and kind of a Spaniard Bordeaux region ). Wines are not fancy but consistently good).
And yeah.. Very good wines come out of the Russian River valley.
Free range grapes eh? :LOL::LOL:
