I'm trying to figure out a way to track the kids' growth over the years. I'm interested in any ideas people have, including hands, feet, or height.
My parents marked my height on a door jamb but I am trying to come up with something that I can take with us when we move. A TV show had stepping stones that included the kids' footprints each year but I'm not sure how to make these.

Any thoughts?

Take the piece of trim with you when you move?

Hey, I did exactly that with a door frame from Cleveland Ohio at my grandmother's house. It had about 80 years of kid's growth markings on it from lots of different relatives. It's in my hall closet right now with the table leaves and winter coats. Don't know what I'll do with it but sure didn't want to lose it...

A friend of mine (a big baseball fan) did something pretty interesting after his son was born. On each birthday he takes him to the local minor league baseball stadium and has his wife take picture of him and his son with the same background (a 7 foot baseball with a smiling face). While not an accurate measurement, it still gives a very good indication of his growth over the years.

My dad bought a nice pocket knife before each birthday (all of them were "case" brand), and then on my birthday he would use it to notch my height on the door jam and then he would put the knife in a case with all of the other ones with the intention of giving me the collection at a certain age. I still have the knife collection and always though that was really cool. We lived with my grandmother who still lives in the same house where doorway still has all of the marks, and she has told me that she has my mother listed in her will as the intended recpient of the piece of trim.
