I ride public transportation to work every day, costs about $45/month for my pass. My step-grandparents are thinking about giving or selling me one of their cars, but I think I will still take the train anyway. Will just use the car for weekends and running errands.

I ride my bike everyday, though it's only 3 miles.
Yea that is how far mine is as well.. The only thing i have to worry about is how damn hot it is.. I may do a test run tonight when I get home and see how the ride is..

Not sure the conversion to gallons but the wife filled up for $1.22 per litre. I think that puts us over $4 or 5 per gallon.

I work about 600 miles from home so bikin ain't gonna work for me. At least I don't pay for my flights though!

11 miles to work, but if I rode my bike in I wouldn't have to worry about a shower. Why? Because I would get run over within seconds of hitting the main drag.

It's about 25 miles round trip for me. Bust most days I carpool with my wife ... and we also drive a Prius.
Last fillup was $3.34 / gal @ 51.9 mpg.

I know I bitch about the price of gas, but frankly I'm one of the dumb-asses who's perpetuating the problem. F250 super cab, 15 mpg rolling downhill with a tailwind. Unfortunately, I bought it when gas was a buck 55 per gal. Now the trucks paid for and my monthly gas bill doesn't exceed what a new car payment would be.

I'd really like to see the hydrogen fuel cells make a move. They could call it the "Hidenburg 2000". Marketing may pick another name though.
