Clay said he prefers hard mail...That cracked me up..

But does the amount of money that junk mail generates for the usps keep the rates at what they are? Or is it just a drain on the resources? Do they have to employ more people at X amount of dollars to handle the extra mail that they spend more in pay and benefits than is collected for the junk mail?

. . .snip. . .But does the amount of money that junk mail generates for the usps keep the rates at what they are? Or is it just a drain on the resources? My employer does a lot of legitimate bulk mailing; invoices, statements, etc. The local USPS tells us that bulk/junk mail does keep rates where they are. That is where the money is. However, this becomes a huge chicken & egg argument; vis-a-vis, economics. First, you have to rape the forest to create the paper that none of us want. Then, you have to allow massive bulk mailing to keep postal rates reasonable for the average citizen. My sense is that the USPS growth and cost increases are a direct result of handling junk mail. Disallow the junk mail and you reduce the USPS work force, save on payroll and benefits payments, reduce the impact on the environment and quit pissing off the recipients of said junk mail. . .:hysterica

Of course, that would be way to simple for our representatives. . .:cursing:

I like email but you can't send or receive bombs through that.....
I have a feeling somebody is going to be showing up at your door tonight for that comment.

I suggest you change it to "cigar bombs" so you don't get in trouble by big brother, I need you at work tomorrow!

I prefer my bills in the mail, it helps as a reminder to pay them. If statements show up via email, they will get buried with all the other emails I get and I will probably forget about them. Other than that, it's email all the way baby!!!

Did anyone notice who produced the "survey"? It was Pitney Bowes. What does Pitney Bowes make? POSTAL METERS

I wouldn't produce a survey stating that my product was becoming obsolete would you?

Ya think that "survey" just might be biased?

Junk snail mail has to be physically disposed of, which means shredder and recycling. Both expenses of time and money.

Junk email gets a click to delete assuming it gets through the spam filter in first place.
