The Discovery channel is having a marathon today of this fairly new show ... pretty interestesing. The host, Bear Grylls, is ex-British Special Forces, has himself put in the middle of a wilderness (Louisiana swamp, Costa Rican jungle, on top on an Alaskan mountain, etc) with only clothes, water, a knife and a flint. He then takes 3-4 days to survive on whatever is available and find his way back to civilization.

Very good show and lots of helpful tips!

I love all the previous episodes, and there should be some new ones soon.
They used to have a similar show hosted by an older British guy that mixed basic tips with stories of survival. But that show wasn't nearly as good as Man vs Wild.

I've been watching it since the start. Since I enjoy survival skills (thanks Scouting) I find the show really enjoying.

Haven't see the zebra one yet. I've seen him catch some fish though and then kills them / eats them using just his teeth. Not sure why he needs to do that as he always carries a knife.

It is a good show.. there are a ton of tips, but some of the stuff you would not remember in the situation, but it is pretty crazy

I see he's been avoiding the really tough ones so far ....

1. In a shopping mall on Christmas eve, searching for a unique gift.
2. In rush hour traffic (6am - 8pm) in LA and trying to exit in Long Beach
3. Trying to mail a letter at the Post Office on April 15 in any large US city

I love watching this show when I remember it's on or when I catch it while channel surfing. Great tips, but I doubt many will remember what he's telling them during a time of stress/panic.
