well, today the kids cam flooding back through the doors as we kicked off yet another school year. I know I have little symathy from those of you who are not blessed to work in the education field and had to work all summer, but for those of us in the world of academia, this is a very exciting/intense time of year.
my smallest class is currently at 20 (and WILL grow in the next few days) and my biggest class is 35 (and I am praying this does NOT grow any further!). with 135 total students this year, I have my hands full!
On another note, as of the beginning of the day today, I am officially a tenured teacher...and that is a good thing! I have already been asked to sit on interview commitees to screen candidates who will possibly become future candidates of mine. I am definately excited to be a part of that decision making process. I am also being actively recruited by my union president to become involved in the union. As they say, they are looking for "young teachers who will bring new outlooks and perspectives and who will actively increase involvement from other porfessionals within their age demographic" (taken from an e-mail I got today). I am still 'on the fence' about this opportunity though. Between grad school, coaching, and ski club...i'm pretty well booked!
regardless, it's a pretty sxciting time of year for me and thought I would share with all of you. I'll keep you guys updated if anything interesting happens...and it will!
