What's up guys? I was just throwing this out there, I wanted to see if any bros were in the Law Enforcement field. It's something that I always dreamed of doing (especially a detective) and I was just curious on how to get invovled and things like that...I've been doing a lot of research online and I figured I wiuld check with my bros from here
I'm 26 and I don't want to have any regrets later on, about careers that I should have chosen!

Our local B&M is like the Sheriff and PD annex. Guys all seem pretty happy and make good bucks, but it is a pricey place to live.

Can you believe it? I have nothing bad to say in this thread. You guys may have had a strange affect on me. I smoke more tobacco than anything else and don't talk bad about cops as much anymore. The metamorphosis is still in the works.

It's just absolutley sad that a person that sits in a cube all day can make more money than a person who is out there ensuring the saftey of their fellow citizens and literally putting their life in danger!!

I agree -- but solved that dilemma by sitting in a cube.

Job security is a plus but don't forget about the midnight shift and crappy days off. Working holidays and the like.

I was in law enforcement, retired seven years ago. Seems like yesterday.

You say you are 26, but don't say if your married, with kids and cemented in PA.

If you want to travel, go federal. Pension plan definitely beats state, county or local.

If you want to stay in PA, then go to a metro area, they tend to pay better and offer more job opportunities.

I have been thinking the same thing. I am working to get back in shape and then will look at where I am and probably fill out some applications.

If I don't make it, I will at least know I attempted to gain a position.
