Deputy Norling was killed on the 1st of October when a passing vehicle struck his motorcyle as he was issuing a citation on the Westpark Tollway. He was rushed to Memorial Herman where he was pronounced dead. I don't understand how the ---- this can keep happeneing. How the ---- can people not see those goddamned bright ----ing blue and red LEDs on the side of the ----ing road? Big bright ----ing lights that pretty much mean move the ---- over....Texas even has a ----ing law that says you must either move the ---- over or slow to 20mph below the speed limit...I just don't ----ing undestand....Veteran officer...Gone...becuase some asshole in an SUV was in a hurry...You woill be missed Eric...Another name on the wall in Austin..

My dad is an officer with the county sheriff's office, and I get nervous every time I hear something like this on the radio. I am truly sorry for your loss.

That happens so often. Target fixation. Drivers see all the flashing lights and drive right into it.

My pop retired after 30 years, most of it in traffic. Was hit by a car three seperate times but only had to fire his gun once while on duty. I swear traffic stops are more dangerous than pretty much anything else.

I'm also very sorry to hear about this... Whenever I hear about an officer losing their life, I think of the quote from AMW

"It's not how this officer died that made him a hero, it's how he lived..."
-Just thought that I'd share this great quote...

Thanks for the support guys...The funeral is this week, if I can get well enough, I'll brush off my blacks and get down there...I spent the better part of my weekend in the ER on fluids and morphine...Took 14 bags of fluid in about 12 hours...

We all try to live our lives the best we can, always trying to do the right thing...But what we have to remember is that you can't always do the right thing...You just have to know when that time is and accept it...Eric will be sorely missed...SAPD just had an officer struck on I35 yesterday, luckily he was unhurt except for some bumps and scratches....Brother officers out there (I know there are a few of you) be safe brothers,...Keep that head on a swivel...

I'm hangin in bro, morphine and rehydration work wonders...Still trying to get over this shit though...It just kills me when we lose good officers to something as stupid as someone being in to big of a hurry to change lanes or slow the fuck down...
