I picked this box up in Toronto in 2000 and decided to break it open after my boys blessing of a win over Detroit (Go Cowboys)

Pre-light
Very spicy tasting wrapper. Wonderful wrapper construction and great pre-light draw.

First 1/3

Great earthy flavor. Really bread-like (like fresh sourdough) good smoke volume, however, the draw is quite tight (I hope this is just the one I picked out).

Half-way Mark
Still quite bread-like and rich but the spice build is beginning to show. Tones of black pepper and starting to get hot. After slowing the draw (which was tough due to the draw) the spice complement was nice.

Final
more pepper as well as solid bread-like notes. Short Finish

Overall
I must confess I am a little disappointed with this smoke. The draw was really a let-down. While there is a nice maturity to this stick, I expected more especially considering this is a discontinued cigar. You would think that they would have made sure everything was perfect. I will review more form this box later in the new year.

Nice review! You're probably aware of the fact that '99 and '00 are some of the worst rolled cigars due to the boom. Chances are half your box are tent pegs unfortunately but hopefully that will be limited to only a few sticks. These are good cigars but when compared to it's brother the Punch Punch, my palate favors the final third of the Punch Punch.

Ha, maybe that's why it got discontinued!!!
Seriously, though, I had a couple from 99 and/or 98 a while ago and thought they were pretty good. Sounds like you got a plugged one, which is too common for the 99/00/etc. cigars. What's the box code?

My box of 00's are smoking really good. Sorry to hear the disappointment. As Tyler pointed out though, it was slated to be discontinued for a reason. I doubt that it was because of quality...probably just wasn't a good seller.

Couldn't agree more, the are maybe the lightest corona gorda produced in Cuba, but so flavorful.

I have 1 or 2 left from a 99 box, and everytime I open the humi try to avoid them.

Smoked my first of these in years about a week ago. I don't remember liking them as much as I did after smoking this last one. Tremendous flavor. Definitely had that aged Punch profile that I love. And without so much boldness the nuances were very discernible. Really considering pulling the trigger on a box or three. The '99/'00 thing has me a little worried though. I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of 5ers however, and if they smoke well I see a good supply of these hitting the humi in the very near future.

I had the pleasure of burning one of these guys back in feb. It was wonderful. It's not at the top of my list, but I plan on getting more some day.

Smoked another one of these this morning. Burn was a little off and required two touch-ups but never got completely out of hand. Draw was perfect, and the flavors were really enjoyable. Very mild smoke to be sure, but a great first smoke of the day. I like this one better then the RS11 and as well as the Punch Punch, (not as much as the SS#2 though fwiw).

I smoked one a few weeks ago and thought they had a sweet raisen like fruity flavor to it. Too bad they have been disco'd I wouldn't mind smoking one every now and then as a change of pace cigar.
