Honestly for that price, I'd go for Macallan 18yr I'm not a huge fan of Chivas 12 to begin with and the Mac is an outstanding scotch. It runs between 100 and 140 a bottle, but the 15 yr is about 60-80 a bottle and is also very good. For that ,matter the Mac 12 is only about 40 a bottle and is great as well.

I personally prefer Glenlivet over Macallan. Although Chivas and Johnnie Blue are blended scotches and Glenlivet and Macallan are Single Malts. You might be better off trying some at a bar or restaurant to see which you prefer. Some others that I like are Oban 14yr., Glemorangie, and Laphroaig. Hope this helps.

I would recommend a Glenlivet Archive 21yr (my personal favorite) or possibly the Talisker 25yr. With the latter I would suggest a strong cigar to go with it. If you are new to Scotch..and want something that is a good mixer with water (2:1 mix), try the Glenmorangie 18yr. Just my 2cents.
