I've been trying to get a 2nd modem for my bedroom off of ebay, but have been totally sniped every time. Does anybody have an extra one?

I'll pay/trade/whatever...

Thanks in advance...

Do you already have cable modem service? If you do, you could install a router and share that connection. Otherwise you'll have to pay the cable company to register the second modem.

I'm just trying to be helpful, I don't know if you already thought of that.

Snipe the snipers. Figure out the most you will pay and do not place bid until the last 10 seconds.

Or, have you tried Craigslist in your area?

I worked for the cable company as an installer in the Cincinnati area and ducati98 is right. They will charge you for a second broadband line. I probably have an extra model if you really want one though.

Shit...I wasn't aware of that. I already have a router for the basement and first floor, but I didn't want to hassle with the cat5 line all through out the house.

I've tried wireless and I can't get a strong enough signal out of the basement.

Oh well...I'll see what I can get out of Comcast.

Try setting up wireless on the first floor?
You don't have to plug the wireless router into the modem, just any cat5 with internet. So if you've got an ethernet cable on the first floor, just plug the wireless into that.

Well if you decide to get another modem send me a PM. I went and checked and I do have a few modems. Maybe comcast works differently than clear channel (who I worked for)does.
