First of all these "rebates" will not start showing up until June/July. Personally I would rather see lower prices on gas at the pump or better rates on utilities around the homefront. Just last month my gas bill doubled from $30 to $60 dollars.

Yes, the rebates will be appreciated but is it a cure to our failing economic situation. According to the experts these rebates should total about $200 billion in payouts. Keep in mind that to date we've nearly spent TWO TRILLION on the war in Iraq.

Kinda small in comparison eh!

If I was to get 300 I would spend it on a box of cigars. Although, since I didnt make a single damn cent this year... Im not even gonna get the $300. :-(

I don't know. Seems a bit suspicious to me. We are spending Trillions for a War, the market is more volatile than usual, the National budget isn't balanced, we're up to our collective necks in debt (and borrowing money from other nations), and we're each getting a check for $600. Doesn't really make much sense to me. A little too convenient that the checks will probably go out May/June and that's about when the RNC/DNC hype will begin.

The real problem is that this isn't free money. It's just adding to our national debt. Sure, it's nice, but we're not talking a total reduction in our overall tax rate percentage.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I was listening to NPR and I heard the "rebate" put in these terms: We're gonna end up borrowing the 200 Billion from China and most American's are going to spend the money on products from China. Who's economy is getting stimualted?

I heard the same story of borrowing the money from China and it wasn't on NPR so there must be some truth to this story. UNFORTUNATELY!

That's what I've said all along. We'll all pay for this sooner or later.
