I got a call from a sister-in-law the other evening. My brother is turning 40 this summer and she wants to send him on a fishing trip with me, our other brother, and my sister's husband. The trip will almost have to happen between Mid-June and the end of August and will be a 3 day/4 night trip.

The birthday brother lives in Idaho, and my sister-in-law wants to send him east. I live in Pa and know that summer isn't the best fly fishing in the east. I'm sure that we can convince her that Montana, Utah, Canada, etc are better destinations. A package is probably a good way to go, but not required. I'm sure that a guide is almost necessary, at least for a day or so of the trip.

Any suggestions? I think fly fishing is the method we prefer, we don't really need equipment, and I'm thinking just the 4 of us or else a very small group.

Oh, and fyi, I live in PA, the birthday brother lives in Idaho, the other brother lives in Maine, and the brother-in-law lives in Colorado. I don't think any of us really want to be too close to home for this Mancation....

I can recommend a nice little lodge and some great guides in Montana for you, if you like. The lodge owner is a friend of 10+ years and one of the guides I'd recommend is a guide I lost to Montana and sorely miss.

I can also help you out planning a road-trip through Colorado if you're thinking more of an unguided DIY trip. It is, after all, my backyard. Can take you guys out locally, if that's what you want (but CO isn't as glam as MT, so maybe not).
