I'm sending my wife to South beach in a few weeks( a little gettaway w/ her and some of her friends). I dont know of nor would I attempt to stay in a hotel for $100 a night in that area.

I am interested in a resort type place for a week stay. I'm getting married in Nov and would like to take a short honeymoon over christmas break. The woman is a teacher so we have to wait till then or even later and go somewhere in summer. So I'm all ears for you travelers that have been before.

She doesn't know that there's kind of an extra bonus in it for me. Although she will quickly realize it when we find El Rey de los Habanos.

May I ask why? The Art Deco hotels of that area seem to get decent reviews on hotel .com
based on staying at south beach last year, a small room in good area(but not on the beach) can easily run $300. for the $300 pricetag, dont expect much

Most of SB is fine, it's downtown Miami you don't want to be in at night. SB, Coconut Grove and the Gables are fine at night. Probably not going to find a good hotel on SB for that price. My advice would be rent a car, stay in the upper keys (Largo) and drive into Miami for cigars and a club. If you want nice beaches (quiet) and some snorkeling etc, stay on the keys. It's only about an hour from Largo to downtown.

Let me talk to my wife. She seem s to know the ins and outs of Miami. I've been there only a few times and thats enough for me. I have my wife bring home the cigars. I'm trying to get her to pick up some boxes of Tats this time around.
