Folks, I think we need to relook at the purpose of these threads. The Wish List concept is so that people can try sticks they either haven't had a chance to try and are interested in (let's say for a future purchase) or that they can't get ahold of (something rare or very aged). Your request should be tempered to some extent by your ability to "pay it forward". A few examples:
Posting up a wish list of extremely highpriced, hard to get, rare and aged cigars when you have little or nothing to offer is not the best form. There is NOTHING wrong with throwing one or two "it would be a miracle if I got these" cigars on your list, but the entire list shouldn't be made up of them. Unless of course, you are routinely fulfilling those same types of wishes.
Posting up a wish list that is all, or mostly "ANY xxx brand" is not what this is all about either. Certain brands may lend themselves to this like Cuaba or Qua D'Orsay or Vequeros as they have a very limited range. Saying "Any Hoyo DeMonterrey" or "Any Partagas" is way too vague. These lines have dozens of vitolas to chose from. If you don't have one or two you are interested in, why are you asking for them? Brands like Cohiba or Trinidad fall somewhere in the middle as they are on the pricey side. But still, if you can, pick one or two that you like based on size if nothing else. And lastly, if you want to throw ONE "Any" choice in your list, it looks a whole bunch better than an entire list made of those types of requests.
Remember that the Brotherhood is all about sharing and Paying it Forward. If you can't afford to, or don't have the "ammunition" to do so, please think long and hard before posting something in a thread like this. These threads are not meant to be an offer of carte blanche to ask for FREE CIGARS. They are meant to give a brother a chance to help out another BOTL who is interested in a certain cigar.
This leads to one more comment. If you have posted up a decent sized list, and it is taken care of fairly quickly, immediately posting ANOTHER list is pretty much considered to be poor form. Work on paying it forward, helping out another brother and enjoying and discovering the cigars you have just been given a chance to try for a while.
This is not meant to call anyone out and I'm not trying to be a d*ck here. I just thought it might be time for a bit of a reality check.
Carry on!
