....so, I haven't been on the board lately.

Was getting pretty frustrated trying to read the computer screen for the first couple of weeks after my PRK surgery. Got a pair of cheapo reading glasses and that helped. Got busy with my job since I was off for a week.

And then, back in January, I started to inquire about a position in our Central Office that hadn't seemed to have been filled. It's a rather specialized field, so they were having trouble finding a viable candidate. One thing lead to another, and as it turns out, my background makes me more than qualified to fill the slot. So, I ended up interviewing for the position on April Fools Day... took a chance there.... and got a call on Wednesday with an offer.

I'd been trying to get all my projects caught up just in case I did get the job, so I've been putting a lot of time in at the office.

So, sometime in the next couple of weeks, I'll be leaving my position as a Construction Project Engineer and taking up my new position as the Construction Management Engineer for the Commonwealth. Should be pretty interesting... project scheduling, dispute resolution and claims avoidance/defense Statewide.

Hope to slow down a bit here soon so I can catch up and get back on with some regularity.

Hope all is well with the Brotherhood.

Congrats on the new position...but, i've got a complaint that you can resolute with the I-99 project there in State College. How familiar are you with that? My company has done a small amount of work with that project through what i believe is the main contractor, HRI. You know em?

Ummmm...... I-99? No... have no idea..........

Not true. I work for PennDOT and actually drive around the closed section. HRI? Yeah, I know them. Good company (at least from my side... Construction Project Inspection/Management).

Let me know when/where you'll be. We can meet up in a couple of places. Although while in Harrisburg last week, I got wind that the first thing out of the gate for or Legislature is a smoking ban of sorts....

Oh! And that's for the congrats guys. I'm really looking forward to starting in this position.

And the eyes, although not 100%, are doing better. I'm at about 75-80% of 20/20 by my judgment.

Tomorrow is my last day as a Project Engineer. Start my new position on Monday.

Haven't been on the board because I've been trying to clear up my current projects to hand them over. Once I start, I'll be pretty much on my own and on the road. I'll probably sign on in the evenings when I'm back at whatever hotel I happen to be at that day.

The evening after I accepted, I celebrated with an '05 BGF that I'd picked up in Italy and the last of my 25 yr Macallen.
