so now that warmer weather has arrived, my nightly ritual is to sit outside and smoke a cigar. After a quick i love you kiss a few minutes ago, she said she can handle the smell, in fact she likes it, during the time i'm smoking, but my breath afterwards is what she cdan't handle.

Any one have any good breath remedies after the burn?

I've been brushing the teeth and using mouth wash, but it aint' cuttin it.

I kinda like wakin up in the morning and tasting what i smoked last night, but i can totally understand where she's coming from, cuz i'm sure it aint good

Try a dram of scotch with your smoke and then really surprise her with a kiss...

Smoke a cigar and the cigar smokes you. Not really much to do bout it. Mints, tongue scrapeing, mouthwash all work for a few minutes but not really. My wife just deals with it at this point. She doesnt mind the smell on my clothes or when we are driving. SHe really hates it on my breath but doesnt make a big deal about it. I guess as long as it is not booze on my breath she is ok with it.

I guarantee you my wife feels the same way: no bourbon = a ton of tolerance.

When I first started smoking cigars in the service, an old Gunny, when asked what to do about the smell and breath replied: " Son if you smoke cigars your gonna smell like em....try to cover it up and your gonna smell like a heap of shit. It just comes down to what you want to smell like."

no way to hide it, I tried a lot of things.

but I did notice one thing, and I am not saying that's a good thing.
when Jill and I were just living our lives together, she would always complain about the smell and when I kissed her, but now, the true issues we have in our relationship came out and right now it's not looking to good for it to last.
this is the first time in 6 years that I have a hard time being close to her and now, she doesn't mind at all when I smoke cigars and she wants a kiss, she doesn't even say a word.

I hear what you are saying about loving your wife and I think it's awesome that you are trying to be respectful, but it's really just a matter of compromise for the both of you. sometimes you smoke a cigar and she is gonna kiss you and put up with it because it makes you happy and sometimes you are just gonna have to NOT smoke a cigar to show her you care.

it's little stuff like that, that really shouldn't be reason to argue, I like Scotch and cigars, my only real bad vices, so all in all, not too much to ask from her, but sometimes i just won't have one. fair is fair

My fiancee decides if it was a "good cigar" or not based on what my kisses taste like after I finish smoking. Most of 'em are "bad cigars" to her. hahaha.

so your saying the wife is out of luck when it comes to kissing?
Something like thatI have tried for years. My wife is so sensitive to smell. I can have a cigar early afternoon, eat lunch, shower, and she can still smell the smoke. Some folks just can't get rid of some smells and some wifes can smell it better that a drug dog.

Now this is an irregular occurrence for me but my woman gets on the tipsy side and she says things like "I love kissing you after you smoked a good cigar". When she's sober though she doesn't hate me smoking but is strongly opposed because her Uncle Howard died within the year and he smoked multiple machine-mades a day. As far as she knows and I know, he inhaled so it's a mute point but, she when not drunk says, "you can't avoid inhaling all of it". I've tried my best to educate her. I guess she'll have to deal when I move back to the states with 3 coolers of cigars. That or I'll have to find a new woman!

so i brushed the toungue last night, and the roof, and it helped a little. i did notice this morning that, while i still didn't have that fresh minty taste, i dind't notice the cigar as much. Which is a let down for me, but i'm sure the wife appreciated it when she opened her eyes to see me inches away with my hot steamy morning breath hanging all around her like a cloud of toxic green gas. Good thing she loves me.

Took a while to to figure out what was 'enough', but thorough brushing (toungue, roof, gums) and mouthwash have done the trick.

Have learned, however, that the smell in my hair was actually a bigger issue for her. We just didn't realize for quite a while that that was where the offensive odor was coming from. Switched to showering at night (even if I'd been to gym that day and it means a second shower) and no complaints since.
