Well I went and did it. I bought a new 150 quart colman. The himidity is a little high, but coming down. the problem is that the temp is staying around 73 degrees. I would like to get it down to about 65. it is kept in the closet but i do not have a basment. Is there a small powered cooler that I can place in it to help.

My coolidoor was getting a bit warm, so I tossed in a small reusable ice-pack. This will down humidity too, since water condenses on the pack, so keep an eye on the hygrometer.

This seems to work well as a temporary solution, but if I can't keep the cooler cool enough once I reinstall the air-conditioners then I'll probably end up buying a Vino-Temp.

Cigar Tiki ...skip the VinoTemp model, consumer reports give the smaller units bad marks on a couple of models, the cuisinart model is also a dog. Complaints are the Cooler units craps out in about a year. The larger vinotemp cabinets due very well and are exceptional quality, but use normal refrigerant. Danby, and Sunpentown it's the quality of the box, and don't buy the models with upper and lower cooling chambers. The upper chamber controls temp from 45* to 54* and is worthless for this application. The only way to alter the temperature control range is to replace a resistor on the circuit board to the same size as the other cooler zone....good luck finding that little guy...Cigar Tiki.

I put them in heavy zip lock bags then wrap in a light kitchen towel. I rotate the towels each day to a dry one. At first it lowers the humidity then it goes up a little from the towel.

I tried that for several weeks with a 120 qt. Igloo and 1 lb. of Heartfelt beads. I was using 2 refreezable ice packs (about 8X8") and placing them in a freezer bag wrapped in a dry hand towel.

For the first 6 hours or so when the temp would drop to around 64-66*F (which was good) the RH would dive down to 51-53% which was way too low. As the temp rose to around 70* the RH would get up to the desired 63% or so. I felt the RH swings were way too dramatic and I found my beads were turning almost completely white and needed re-wetting every 3-4 days.

Got too frustrated with that so now I have an empty 120 qt. Igloo and a new Vinotemp. Much easier.
