One day late... I would not worry about it. When they get 30-60 days late or more is when it hits your credit report/score. But the $39 still sux!

depending on your creditor, you may get hit with a "default rate" this means your interest rate will shoot through the F'n roof. 25-33% is not uncommon. You do not have to be 30 days late to get hit with this. It should not show up on your credit report, as you were not a full 30 days late. No need to contact them until you see the APR on your next bill, they won't work with you anyway. Once it goes up, it will not come down. If they hit you with that rate, the best thing you can do is get another, low interest card, and transfer the balance, then close the original card.

I read an article lately where closing a CC acount that you had not had very long can have a negative impact on your rating. Doesn't make sense to me.

$39 dollars is minimal and you can almost always get that back. the default interest rate is what you need to worry about.

There are a lot of things CC companies do that don't make sense. the default rate being one of them.

Antoher thing that Cuban Counterfit Companies do that downs't make sense is keep making these fake cuban cigars. I' mean c'mon, i'm onto them now and yet they continue to make them and you fools continue to buy them. I much prefer the Non Counterfits.

And dave, i think you meant to say "default ring size" not
"defualt rate". Defautl rate makes no sense in the context of this thread.

most credit card companies are pretty decent about missing the payment date by a day or so, especially if you have had good history with them.. It would be a worth-while phone call customer service and mention it to them.. i would be willing to bet that they will waive the fee this time for ya, as long as it hasnt happened before.

That shouldn't hurt your credit. you have to be pretty late (I think 15 days before it hits you credit). You will just have to pay a fee and interest.

If they do hit you with higher APR and you transfer the balance to a new card, do not close the account.

I've got a friend that worked in credit counseling and he said that is one of the worst things you can do for your credit score. It's better to leave them open with a zero balance than to close them.

Credit card companies issue cards to make MONEY. Default rate is one of the many methods of increasing your interest rate. Do call. Do get a confirmation that they will not increase your rate.

I don't have any credit cards with a balance on them. I make them work for me and use their money to work for my benefit, thus paying the balance every month.

I made a payment, online, the day it was due... The website sys that payments made online would be processed that day...they still charged me a late fee, because they said if you pay on the "due by date" it is technically late....so I technically closed my account and then 2-3 months later I found out that it is neg. affecting my credit score, because I closed the account.

My next CC payment will be "paid to the order" of CubanLous!
