Well guys today i finally got the time to go out and purchase my first hand gun. I decided to get the p226 equinox in the 40 cal version.

Here is a picture of what the gun looks like, i don't have a personal picture yet because i had to put in the application to purchase the gun. It should be ready for pick up in 7-10 days if i pass. I will post new pics then.

Let me know what you guys think. Any brothers use/own sigs, or even better sig 226 equinoxs'?

Have a couple sigs laying around but not a 226. Have owned two of that model in the past and liked both. You made a solid choice, my wifes every day carry gun is a Sig 239.

Matt did you get it for just shooting or are you planning on carrying? I assume you won't be in DC forever which would make it possible for you to carry.

Nice! I carry a sig P239 40 cal. as my off duty. It is a great gun to shoot and simple to clean. Good choice. They sell some great concealment holsters if you plan on carrying.

Nice choice. It’s about time you bought something to defend that arsenal of cigars you have (lol). Good luck with it and be safe!

I carry a 226... its bulky but i love it...
Same with my 229. Awesome sidearm, but not intended for CC. Very nice purchase!! You'll love it. I put a Hogue grip on mine, and it fits the hand like a glove. You can buy an after market .357 SIG barrel for it too and use the same clips as the .40s. Takes about 10 seconds to replace the barrel. Both rounds have advantages. I also replaced the fixed sights with fully adjustable pro sights.

This is just going to be a home protection gun and every once in a while range gun. I have no plans on trying to get a concealed carry license while i am in MD or DC (its almost impossible).

If and when i move away from this state i will probably get something a little smaller if i want to carry. The other gun i really liked was the Springfield xd9, i may get one of those

Alot of people told me to try out a Kimber, but everywhere i went didn't have any in stock or didn't carry them at all :sadstare:

Sigs are wonderful pistols. I have a 226, but the older model, not the Equinox. Have a buddy at work who has the 229 Equinox. Beautiful gun.

Not that it matters to me, I think the ban is unconstitutional, but isn't even owning a handgun in DC illegal?

Hey can I ask where you found the Sig? I'm in Maryland Ellicott City and have found them to be out of stock alsmost everywhere.

Thanks
