I would go with something bigger. It will not take a long time to fill up a small humidor. I have out grown my 500 count in just over a year. But I do also have a smaller one.

Start by figuring out what you want to do. If looks are important your into a humidor, if only storage is important, you're probably better off with a coolidor. Keep in mind that this hobby can be addictive, there are big benefits of being able to age your own cigars, and many people out grow their desk top humi in a very short time.

You can get away with a tupperware container or decent wooden cigar box until you figure out your needs. Just add a humdifier like beads to regulate the humidity.

I started with a desk top humi, then another, then a biger one. I've given all three of those away now and use a wine cooler for boxes and a custom built cabinet with trays for singles. Wine coolers rocks, cost is about 200, plus $30 for beads and you can store hundreds of cigars with temperature control.

Same version without temperature control is to use a cooler with gets you down to about $30 plus $30 with decent room to grow the collection.

If you find you need boxes to put your singles in ask your local shop or around here.

Thanks everyone. Im a College student, And i think a desktop will be fine until i move into my own place. then, ill prolly look into a bigger, possibly custom system. so i guess for now my inquiries would be limited to the smaller variety of humis.

For sure check out Cigarmony.com and cigarsolutions.com they are both sponsors of our site, and linked in the forum page.

Ditto on that one. I got a desktop humi and now have abandoned it to go to a vino temp. That lasted all of 3 weeks for me. The Vinotemp is a nice and easy way to keep the humidity and temp level. I have a good amount of the heartfelt beads and no problems with the humidity.

I'm a college student as well and must say, I started out on a 20 ct. humi. At first it was great! I thought it'd do well at keeping me cigars for ever since I bought so moderately! WRONG!!! As I got more into cigar smoking, I quickly ran out of space, hence a 150 ct. humi that should do the trick (I mean, it was a tad bigger, wasn't it?). Anyways, ye cannot imagine how quickly ye grow out of a desktop. So, time to get a cabinet came eventually. Even so, sometimes I need to store quite an ammount of cigars at the local B&M. So trust me, the bigger, the better (ye'll be getting them anyways...).

BTW, when people call CigarBid.com a "devil site," they mean that it's addictive in an awesome way, not evil like they have bad stuff or are too expensive.

But I too call it a "devil site" sometimes, because I'm a sucker for an auction site and have spent WAY too much money there in the last 2 months. But I have 3x the sticks for my money, so there you go. 'Course, it will take me 3 or 4 years to smoke them all, lol.
