Looking at some of the BOTL's trader ratings...I wondered, has anyone ever received or given negative or neutral feedback?

I have never seen it, which is one of the things that attracted me to this board after a long time of lurking. In fact, I have rarely heard of even slightly unusual transactions on this board. It does happen, but rarely. For the most part, the brothers and sisters here are people of high honor and integrity and take pride in such. Good communication is key and goes a long way in alleviating angst due to the occasional delay or unexpected personal/family issue that may interfere with a transaction.

I agree FOX...Im a very patient and trusting person...For the most part, I wait about 2-3weeks before i smoke a gifted or purchased cigar, just to get it to my standard...so If there is a delay in the transaction....no problem. After all the trades, bombs, and purchases, i have yet to have been burned....well, I do have a transaction that has gone cold, so we'll see how that turns out!

One thing that I would add is the self-policing aspect of the membership at BOTL. Since I have been here, the members have been very good at instructing the noobs either via open post or PM. It takes time to learn the nuances and attitudes on a board and this one is no exception. However, I have always appreciated the willingness of long-time members to contact new members and offer them some guidance. This board rarely requires any type of harsh moderation nor does it publicly "air the laundry" so to speak. The average incident is easily handled through private communication.

most transactions are done based on trust and respect. everyone on this board trusts one another, and there isnt really a vast amount of people. Everyone who does do trades and such have been around this board for awhile and have no reson to screw someone so theres not much negitive feedback. theres my .02

Yes, it's happened, but as has been noted, rarely. You'll also find that the majority of the board is very forgiving. I recently was involved in a transaction that well deserved a neutral or negative feedback on my part due to my being extremely late in sending out some sticks, but the brother involved was gracious and forgiving.

Overall you will find that so long as you treat your fellow brothers with respect and let them know what is going on that they will be more than willing to cut slack where necessary. Hence, very few negative ratings. And again, as has been said, those who rate negative ratings tend not to stick around.

Communication is the key.

If someone is in a deal and for all intents and purposes seems to just disappear negative feedback is highly in order.

If there are extenuating circumstances that are deemed legit by the person leaving the feedback then I believe the negative feedback can be retracted with Admin help.

Based on what I am seeing on the board as of late negative feedback is definitely in order.

I guess I must have missed what needs negative feedback?
There appears to be a deal that has not been completed on one end by someone within a reasonable amount of time, and without any communication. We all realize life can get in the way, and i hope that the person that has not held up their end of the bargain is ok. But unless someone has extremely extenuating circumstances that keep him away from the computer, at least a note explaining the situation is in order.

He left at least 5 of us hanging. I do hope it's a legit excuse/explanation - I'm still pretty new here... but something tells me he took all his trades, gifts, pif's & the money & ran.

I hope I'm wrong & will publicly appologise... But I got sick of checking for a package to arrive on my doorstep almost a month ago.

On one hand - I hope the guy didn't die or get in an accident or anything, but on the other hand I'm kinda pissed that he didn't follow through with what he promised...
And I didn't get the worst of it either...

So we can safely say we don't operate under the same mantra as that other board over there?

I've seen deals gone bad and the guy takes off with the cash before...usually ends up on another board under a new alias. If you checkout the scumbag list, you'll see what I'm talking about. Some of the guys have several different screen names.
