GREAT day for Golf

Well, looks like i'm celebrating tonight. Gonna fire up something special.

No, i didn't get a hole in one. Never have, and odds are i never will.

However, i just the call i've been dreaming of. I've been invited to play Oakmont in Oakmont, PA, site of the 2007 US Open and 7 other US Opens. I'm totally pumped.

I'm leaving work now to go practive putting on my garage floor. I think that might be a little too slow, so instead maybe i'll go buy a huge sheet of glass...that oughta do.

This will be the first course i've played since i've matured into a real golfer, that is top notch quality in terms of courses the pros play, and i've always said that when i play one of those legendery courses like Oakmont, that i'd play it from the tips to see how i'd fare in comparison to the big boys. Nows my chance and i'm nervous already.

September is gonna be a good gofling month. Playing oakmont next week, meeting Hendy in a few weeks to play a couple nice courses in MI, then playin Firestone up in Akron a week after that.

Have fun at Firestone as well. I get to play there 1-2 times a season and it too, is a fantastic place. My office is only ten minutes away from the course; if you find some time, let's get together for smoke, that is, if you're not enjoying one on the deck overlooking 9 green at Firestone!

That's the plan, on the deck. 2 of my hack brother's played Firestone last year, i was supposed to go with my dad but apparently my wife and mom decided our time would be much better spent at a picnic-with-the-pops orchestra event. Needless to say, we were pissed. We told my borther to bring us back some souvenirs; he gave us each a single tee...he was pissed at us for not bucking the system and saying screw the orchestra.

That's when i vowed to go at all costs, and i am.

As for Oakkmont, my uncle has played several times and he says the same thing, enjoy every bit of it, even the bad shots...whcih i dont' plan on having any of those. :agreesmil
