OK, looks like i've decided to serve some boozed up watermelon at the party this weekend...it'll help make us forget about the rain they are forecasting.

ANyhow, i've never done a watermelon before. I know the technique, but what's a good liquor to use? I know vodka is probably the most common, but how would a sweet rum or a spiced rum work out? Anyone ever done that?

Thanks in advance

So how do you spike a watermelon?

There are many flavored vodkas. Do they make a watermelon vodka? I would think most any berry flavored would be great.

WTF??? You've never heard of this? You cut a circular plug out of the water melon rind, the size of the neck of the liquor bottle. Insert bottle upside down and let it drain into the water melon. After a few days the vodka will have soaked into the water melon making a very potent melon.

Gale, i'm sure any thing would work, but we've always used vodka or ever clear.

I go with Vodka or White Rum, I don't like it to come out too sweet, but thats just me.

You just cut a round cork hole out of the top of a watermellon and fill with your favorite Vodka for me. Put the cut out sectoin back on and let it sit in fridge for a couple of days to a week.

Cut that bad boy open and serve.

Very nice at big partys.

spiked watermelon with everclear = liquid panty dropper
I've already got a recipe for liquid panty remover. Remember that recipe for rum punch and the rum kick martini?!?! That stuff is the bomb.

As for the verclear, Fidel is right, can't get it in Ohio, and i ain't drivin' to kentuck. Just so hapens i got a new bottle of belvedere in the liquor cabinet, so vodka it is.

THanks for the help guys.

And i like the comment, "The things you learn on BOTL." Classic statement right there.

Anything + everclear = me doubled over with intense stomach pain. I have no idea why but it makes my stomach feel like it has a ball with 1000 spikes sticking me in the stomach lining. I learned my lesson the second time lol.

just an fyi. it take forever for the alcohol to soak in. so once you cut the hole, and tip it over, its not gonna happen instantly. leave the bottle upside down until an amount you deem sufficient is empty.

you can speed the process a little by poking the melon inside with bamboo skewers, but it is still slow as all hell.

I would not use sucha nice vodka for this particular application. What if you get a bad mellon, then no one will eat it and you just poured out a $30 bottle of vodka. I would go get some Taaka or Smirnoff. When the mellon soaks it up, you will not be able to tell the difference anyway....Just MHO.

Luksusowa vodka is a good affordable Polish potato spirit. Well it used to be cheaper who's know what happened in the past year since I've not been in the US.
