just an fyi. it take forever for the alcohol to soak in. so once you cut the hole, and tip it over, its not gonna happen instantly. leave the bottle upside down until an amount you deem sufficient is empty.

you can speed the process a little by poking the melon inside with bamboo skewers, but it is still slow as all hell.
I had read about the hole skewer poking bit. They also recommend taking a few spoons of the melon out of the plug hole to provide a little more room.

I would not use sucha nice vodka for this particular application. What if you get a bad mellon, then no one will eat it and you just poured out a $30 bottle of vodka. I would go get some Taaka or Smirnoff. When the mellon soaks it up, you will not be able to tell the difference anyway....Just MHO.
I'm using what i got. I'm not gonna go buy a new bottle for just this. i only plan to put in a cup or so of liquor. No way i'm putting a whole bottle in. The mellon ain't that big and i don't want any pukers. Remember, there's gonna be a keg too, so the mellon may put people over the edge, and over the edge is a bad place to be. :barf:

You don't have to twist my arm, you bring it and I'll eat it. Would your pops get pissed if he saw you with a watermelon tapped with a bottle of vodka? If so I'll try to handle it as long as I can get a watermelon in late october.

Thats cool...In my little corner of the planet (Smith County MS - Self proclaimed watermellon capital of the world) the mellons are very large - 10 plus lbs so a whole bottle is usually used. Dnt get me wrong, I like mellons of all sizes:crosseyed

I wonder if I can do something like this with a pumpkin and rum. Not that pumpkin is really eaten raw but......
considering the big open space where all the seed are, i would say to cut the pumkin into pieces and soak it in captainMorgans spiced rum. Maybe add some cinnamon and nutmeg.

Yeah there is that big space to deal with. I didn't think about it much as you can see. Hmm I'm going to buy a watermelon a few days before my birthday so I can do this.

Better yet, take out the seeds, pour in the spiced rum, put a spigot on the outside and voila! you've got a pumpkin tap ready to pour some terrible tastingpumpkin spiced cider.:barf:

Raw pumpkin is one terrible smell.

The only good i can see coming from anything involving liquored pumpkin is a made-from-scratch pumkin spiced liquor pie for turkey day.

The memories... or lack there of when we used to do this...

Let it sit and every 2 or 3 hours lift the bottle up about a centimeter and let that booze flow in.. wow.. oh and you have to make fresh fruit drinks out of what you spill as you are cutting it..

I have only one memory of everclear. I woke up...fully clothed in a bathtub full of water. I have no idea how I got there and I have no idea how much of the stuff I drank. That stuff is nuts.

In college, we used to have Whoop Juice parties where we would mix a couple of fiths of everclear with several gallons of hawian punch and fresh fruit in big vats. One guy's dad had a farm supply company and he "borrowed" one of those pumps you put in cow/horse water troughs to keep the water pure and from freezing. We would put that thing in there an wallla, we had a Whoop Juice Fountain! Oh those were the days!!! Crazy things, too bad my broke ass did not have a video camera, I could have been the guy who invented girls gone wild!
