I have been looking at some Bolivars and noticed that with size change the type of smoke in the description changes too. In other words... one will say woodsy and another one would say earthy and or spicy. Now is this common with the Bolivars? I'm looking at shorter sticks but having trouble deciding:crosseyed.
I've noticed with other non C brands that they have different lines with different characteristics.
I was under the impression that its the same stick just different sizes.
Whats your guys take on this?
Is there s o m e w h e r e I can read up on characteristics of them?

thanks.

I must say, I rarely read reviews on unsmoked cigars, since that tends to make me judge them wrong when updating the cigar journal. Although Bolivar is one of me favorite brands and has yet to let me down. Anyways, regarding yer post, they're certainly NOT the same stick on different sizes. If ye want to know what I mean, get some singles (Royal Coronas, Bonitas, Belicosos Finos, Coronas Gigantes and Inmensas). They certainly have a profile that separates them from other brands; but that doesn't make it a one flavour-different size. Hope I explained meself. :smokingme

The classic Bolivar taste is Earthy I believe. Beyond that it's subject to interpretation. Buy a box and find out for yourself, no sense in getting diluted by someone else's opinions.

clicking on the purchase button is hard to do for me if I haven't really tasted the smokes. I guess the worst case scenario is I can trade up some sticks I don't like with some other ones.

Whatever this might help: www at cigars-review dot org
This is a good site...I usually first check the reviews on the boards I frequent and if I can't find anything good I go to cigars review.

Bolivar deffinetly has a flavor of it's own, but I have smoked a few different sizes, and they are all different. I would just go for your favorite size and I'm sure you will like em.

I find similar characteristics in all of the vitolas in the Boli marca. That said there are enough nuances that are different to keep it interesting. If I want complexity I reach for an Imensa, of a BGM if I've a little more time on my hands. If it's strength I'm after it's got to be a CE. Spice? PC hits the spot. Woodsy, toasty taste? BBF every time. All great smokes. All age out very well. All similar. All different too.

Oh, and the MRN book? Best damned cigar book I've found to date. Well worth the price of admission!

different cigars = different sizes = equals different blend proportions = different taste.

This is the same across the board with ALL cigars. You'll notice the similarities before you'll notice the differences if you're a novice. It's not until experience takes over that you'll pinpoint "I like X vitola more than Y". (most likely).
