Give me some ideas..

As some of you may know I'm getting married from October 8-12 (we have long ass weddings). If anyone is in the region during that time please feel free to drop in. So anyway, I need ideas.. I have been ageing a few boxes for the wedding Partagas D4, Bolivar Belicoso Finos, Bolivar RC and HdM Epicure No.2 but I wanted a few suggestions for the bachelor party and some for the wedding just in case we run short.

I can always get a box of Cohibas but that's like a daily smoke here I want a hidden gem to smoke after the wedding and pass around to a few close friends and then may be throw the box in storage and light one every year on our anniversary. As for the bachelor party there'll be a lot of alcohol flowing and a lot of posers so I don't want to waste my good smokes on them.. I want to get a box of economical smokes that my cigar loving friends can enjoy but can be handed out as a dog rocket without remorse.

Any help from the brotherhood is appreciated.

Well, by the looks of it ye're asking ISOMs, so, for the bachelors party get them Guantanameras and that should do it. Now, extra special smokes...any chance on getting aged cigars? If not, then I'll go with 2007 ELs and any earlier year's ye can get. Montecristo Robusto, Trinidad Ingenios,...

I wouldn't give anyone Guantanameras, they suck! There are other smokes that are economical and still are good tasting. I find that Raphael Gonzalez cigars are a vastly underated cigar that are also very reasonably priced. The Coronas Extras can be had for ca. $160, don't know what that translates to your currency. Another inexpensive alternative is the RyJ No. 2. They are a very good smoke that is even cheaper and are good smokes to hand out at bachelor parties. I smoke these on a fairly regular basis.

If you are looking for a "special" smoke, I would go with Upmann Sir Winnies or RyJ Churchills. They are outstanding and get better and better with age.

Personally, I wouldn't get too many expensive cigars to hand out at a wedding unless you have alot of friends with discerning pallets. Most people don't know their RASS from a hole in the ground and I wouldn't waste good cigars on them. Not trying to sound pompous, but why waste the money handing out Esplendidos or Sir Winstons to people that don't know a good cigar and are liable to put it out after an inch or two and waste it. JMHO.

For a reasonably priced smoke to share, try the Upmann Coronas Major.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing as Jeff. You can easily good something good here that will be just as memorable as a Cohiba. You might be able to bring someone new into the hobby if you were to hand out something that was more easily obtainable like a Fuente.

You know different places have different cultures and over here at a party or a wedding etc you'll see everyone smoking either a Cohiba or a RyJ Churchill.. so I kind of feel those cigars are over played but the RyJ No.2's is a great suggestion and one of the few in the line I really like.

Edit: please keep the suggestions coming.. I am getting my hands on some premium NC sticks through the generosity of a few brothers here so I might pass some of those around to my smoking buddies and see what the hype is about.

I agree, but whilst speaking of people who've never smoked cigars, I believe a somewhat known brand of ISOMs might not be a bad idea (not that I'd ever get another one in me life). Those I mentioned for his bachelor party. Now for the wedding there are a blood load of options around, but they all have to do with who'll be smoking, or better stated, what they smoke. It might be a robusto selection with Partagas Serie D No. 4, Montecristo Petit Edmundo, Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto, Ramon Allones Specially Selected, Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill,... Or maybe figurados...so many ways to develop this!

If you are looking for something different, maybe you should try Quai d'Orsay coronas or Imperiales, which is more a churchill size. I find this to be an unknown gem. It's on the mild side, but long on flavor and I really enjoy these alot. Just a suggestion.

The problem here is economical plus something you want to age and smoke each year. I have a hard time matching those two. If these are seasoned smokers I would bite the bullet and get something middle range that you will enjoy in the future but will please the party.
